Resumo: The project is designed to encourage children and youth to discover sports, spending time outdoors in active participation. With organized actions we will promote volunteerism among young people and a sense of responsibility for the environment in which they live - neighborhood, city, country, Europe. Through many different promotional activities of volunteering, especially European Voluntary Service, we will encourage youth to engage in social life, first in the city, and then at European level.
Throughout the project, while conducting many of these meetings, we’ll invite young people to participate in several activities for the local community, this to show the need for social work and inspire the wish to become a volunteer, including a European volunteers. The meeting of different cultures, of people with different social experience, will contribute to a better understanding of the work, especially volunteering throughout the European Union.
Perfil: The Foundation gathers CV and motivation letters from partner organizations or directly from the volunteers. The Foundation contacts selected volunteers by skype, phone or e-mail. Once volunteer is chosen we ask the volunteer to fill in the e-form and start preparation for the project.
The volunteer should be an open-minded person, who would like to meet new people, and learn about new countries and cultures. He/she should be interested in work with children, youth, disabled people or adults. Volunteers should be flexible, creative and communicative. Experience in national culture, social and youth work, and work with disabled people would be an asset.
In the beginning the volunteers will be put in contact with other volunteers (students and GPS groups – local volunteers) and organizations and encourage to join local cultural associations. Volunteers will learn how to work in the office and familiarize with the administrational and personal structures of the organization. During this time we encourage them to take part in intensive Polish language classes.
We are open to cooperate with every sending organization.
Age: 18 until 30 years old
Tarefas: The volunteer will work 5 days a week (from Monday to Friday) and, once a month, one day of the weekend, for which he/she will receive an additional day off. The work will last no more than 7 hours per day.
Generally, volunteers will have weekends free. They can spend it visiting the city, country, and taking part in the community. All public holidays and church volunteer is also free. In addition, each month is entitled him 2 days off, to any disposal. It can be spent on further travel and tour the country in which the guests.
Breakfast and dinner volunteer prepares himself using the funds given to him at the beginning of each month by the coordinator. Lunch volunteers can prepare on your own, or eat at the restaurant located near his residence, or at any chosen by him.
Volunteers will live in a dorm at the University of Technology - Life Sciences, in double rooms. The volunteers will be accomodated in the local Student House where they'll live for one month and half. The Student House is located right in front of the local University and is situated 20 minutes by foot from the Foundation (3 minutes by bus). The building provides a kitchen in each floor with 4 cookers, plus loundry room with 4-5 washing machines. Each volunteer will be registered in a double bedroom that they will share with another volunteer of the same sex. Each "flat" is composed by 4 double rooms and has common toilet and shower. Dates and hours are set between the volunteer and the teacher (at least 1.5 hours per week).
Promotion of sports and volunteering:
Volunteers will prepare activities (promotional meetings and sport games) for children and adolescents. Full-time workers of the Foundation will assist the volunteers before and during their work, helping them to present and pursue their own ideas.
The first period will be spent to prepare the tournaments and promote sport among local community (with promotional meetings in school, social network, etc.). During this time they’ll also interact with children and youth, showing their culture in many different ways.
At the beginning of the project the volunteer will acquire knowledge about the opportunities offered by the European Union for the youths (and not only), especially when it comes to Youth in Action Programme.
Horário: Work day in preparation:
9:00-10:30 - morning meeting plan
10:30-11:00 - a joint breakfast with the staff of the Foundation
11:00-16:00 - preparation and completion of work
Working day during the tournament/activities:
14:00-17:00 - prepare for competition and transport of equipment at the game venue
17:00-19:00 - cleaning
19:00-20:00 - end of day's play and work
