Resumo: Most of the project will happen at youth hostel South-East from Luxembourg-City. It is a renovated and enlarged former cloister building.

The youth hostel has a capacity of 150 beds and has 3 meeting and seminar rooms and a day-nursery. It is fully adapted for people with reduced mobility. It is open during the whole year for school classes, young people and international travellers. It is also used for seminars, conferences and workshops. There is a sport area next to the youth hostel.
The staff is composed of 24 persons and is regularly supported by students and freelances.

Description of Remerschen:
The municipality is situated at the river bank in the south-east of Luxembourg, exactly in the border triangle of Luxembourg, Germany and France. It is a small municipality with about 1.600 inhabitants with a natural reserve and a large area of small artificial lakes used for swimming and water sports. No discos or bars. There are good possibilities to visit the rest of the mosellan region.

Luxembourg in general:
450.000 inhabitants, and 38 % of them foreign people. Luxembourg offers lots of green areas, multicultural living, a small but very young and dynamic university.
There are three official languages in Luxembourg: Luxembourgish, French and German. The native people are speaking luxembourgish. Mainly young people but also many adults are able to speak English. Within minutes you can be in Germany, France or Belgium, no beaches but a few nice lakes…
The project is co-ordinated by the "Centrale des auberges de jeunesse" (CAJL), head office of the youth hostels in Luxembourg. The CAJL is coordinating different projects in collaboration with the "Service National de la Jeunesse" since about 10 years.

Project description:
The voluntary activities will mainly take place at the youth hostel Remerschen and the direct environment: the vineyards, the natural reserve and the river. At the youth hostel, the host organization is offering programs and activities especially for primary and post primary schools, but also for youth groups, scouts and families, including environmental subjects of the region. The responsible staff of the programs in Remerschen is composed by one person who is assisted during the main season by freelance workers.

Tarefas: The volunteers assist the permanent staff in its work.
• Develop or redesign programs and activities for the nearby natural reserve, the vineyards (environmental and social activities) and/or the artificial lakes (sport and social activities).
• Develop workshops based on the themes environment, education, European awareness and sports.
• Assist the permanent staff during its work: work with youth groups, help organizing events and participate in daily activities.
• Collect and organize information about possible programs and activities.
