Resumo: The activities mainly take place in the City Center . The center is opened from Monday- Friday 10.00- 18.00. Depends on activities from disabled people organisatsions it is opened also in weekends. In the center disabled people"s associations may arrange: notification and consultation activities, training activities, co-ordination of various services and projects and social rehabilitation, cultural and sports activities.

The center has many different possibilities to carry out different activities for target groups- we have many different rooms to organize events, workshops and courses (kitchen, computer class, hall, studyroom, gymnastics room, etc)
In cooperation with our partner organisatsion volunteer will have the chance to work with different target groups: mentally disabled, sensorially and physically disabled.
The organization building is fully modified to meet the needs of disabled people.
The Centre is usually closed in July.

Perfil: Young person with good communication skills in English. Background and interest in social work would be a bonus. Vacancy open for people in age 23 – 30.

Tarefas: 1) In the organization:
• Personal assistant for physically disabled people during the activities
• Leading the English conversation group for disabled person
• Helping together with the staff to prepare and organize the activities for disabled people (concerts, sport days, information days, culture evenings, movie evenings, etc)
• Assist the group leaders and disabled people during the art courses.
• Carry out the activities (culture evenings) for disabled people that promote the volunteer home country

2) For disabled people organizations:
• Helping together with the staff to prepare and organize the activities for disabled people concerts, sport days, excursions outside the city, information days, culture evenings, movie evenings, etc)
• Assist the leaders of art workshops in Merimetsa Center with mentally disabled people
• Leading the English conversation group with people in Blind People Organisation
• Helping to create project proposals for different project funds

Optional example tasks for short- term volunteer:
• organizing youth event to promote equal opportunities and changing experiences
• Carry out the activities (culture evenings) for disabled people that promote the volunteer home country

Also there are many possibilities for volunteer to develop new actions- depends on the interest of volunteer and the interest of disabled people. For example start different language conversation groups, handicraft, etc. The staff of the Center is flexible and open to new ideas and possibilities, so the tasks may be changed and adapted for the interests and skills of concrete volunteer.

The volunteer will learn about the situation of disabled people in Estonia and the role of non-governmental organizations in social system. Through working with people with special needs they gain, as experience has shown, social abilities, which they will need for life.
