Resumo: The organization is quite a small countryside municipality (about 17 000 inhabitants) 100 kilometres from our capital Helsinki. In the organization there are two centres: with about 7000 inhabitants and about 4000 inhabitants. The organization offers a comfortable setting; all major southern Finnish cities are within easy reach, as the Helsinki-Tampere motorway and the main railway route both cross the area.
There are a library, schools, a youth club, food-stores and clothing stores in both centers. Volunteers will live together in the rental-apartment near the workplace, possibly within walking or cycling distance from the workplace. The volunteers will be expected to prepare food for themselves in the morning, evening and at the weekends and also clean the apartment.
In the organization there are plenty of possibilities for different kind of possibilities for different kind of leisure time activities indoors and outdoors. It takes only 20 minutes by bus and 8 minutes by train to go to the nearest city called Hämeenlinna (about 70 000 inhabitants)

Perfil: Volunteers will be surrounded by young children and teenagers everyday so the most important criteria for the profile of volunteers is an interest and love of children and teenagers. We are looking for sociable and talkative volunteers who have a very strong common sense, are trustable and self-imposed. It is an advantage that volunteers have some experience working with this age group. We appreciate skills in music, arts& grafts, sports, theatre, plays etc. (especially in sports), that volunteers can teach children and teenagers.
Volunteers are expected to be at least 18 years old and speak English.
It should be noticed that it is against the Finnish law to possess, sell or use any kind of drugs. Smoking and drinking alcohol is forbidden while working. We will also need enclosed CGC (criminal record) from EVS home countries legal departments because work consists of working with underage children and teenagers.

Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: 1. Youth leisure: Volunteers’ main work is at the youth house. Volunteer’s main-work is at the youth house. Volunteers will be members of your youth team, volunteers will be involved into planning and directing youth club activities and different kind of leisure activities. In summer time the Youth affairs department of the organization arranges summer camps for children and teenagers in the Youth Center. Volunteers will work as camp counselor with youth workers, other local employees and other international volunteers. Camp activities include swimming and sauna, hiking, arts & crafts, campfire and more.

2. Education: Volunteers will assist staff in activities during breaks and in after school club. They will work as part of a team of staff and volunteers in organizing activities for pupils (aged 6-12). Tasks will include preparing and running various activities (including sports, arts/crafts, baking, games etc.)

Volunteers will also help teachers in language lessons depending on volunteers’ language skills.

Those days when volunteers work as an assist with school activities they won’t work in the youth club. Youth clubs are open in the evening (from until 2pm)

Volunteers will have chance to learn different methods of youth work in Finland and get to know Finnish school system.
