Resumo: Stuttgart is the capital of Baden Wuerttemberg in the south west of Germany. With 600.000 inhabi-tants Stuttgart is one of Germany's metropolis. The town is famous for the head office of Mercedes Benz du Porsche, the football club VfB Stuttgart, Swabian cuisine of Spaetzle and wine. Stuttgart has two universitThe Independent Active School Stutgart has been a primary school since September 2001 and a secondary vocational school since September 2006. Our children are able to visit this school until they reach year 10. We are solely there for special needs children with disabilities. The eight founder families had Albert Einstein, amongst others, in mind when they were looking for an alternative to regular schooling. Einstein once said it is indeed a miracle that the modern method of teaching has not totally suppressed the inquisitive interest into research. This small, delicate plant needs not only incentives but primarily freedom to flourish. Without it, it will no doubt wilt and die. The aim was to go in search of a teaching method that allows children to develop in a manner that meets their needs. The works of Maria Montessori and the encounter with Rebecca and Mauricio Wild, who ran an alternative school project in Ecuador for approximately 28 years, confirmed these existing ideas and thoughts. The debate was enhanced by a number of additional teaching reform papers, new neurobiological findings and experiences from other similar schools. In our experience learning is a fundamental issue. It is the aim of the Independent Active School Stuttgart to ensure that children are given space and time to fulfil their natural curiosity, exchange ideas with and learn from each other. Disruptions in this process should where possible be avoided ies as well as several theatres and museums. The Independent Active School Stuttgart is situated in Degerlocha district in the south of the centre of Stuttgart.

Perfil: We are looking for volunteers who like us are interested in the art of learning, who would like to get to know our approach and to share their experiences with us. A thirst for knowledge and an inner drive will help to give both them and our children the opportunity to acquire valuable experience. Partner organisations will keep informed by mail or phone about vacancies in the hosting projects. Requests will answered by the coordinator of Via e.V.. Open placements will also be announced on the Youthnetworks website (www.youthnetworks.eu)assuring a direct access to sending organisations and interested young people.

Tarefas: "We closely integrate the volunteers into our community, whereby they accompany our children in their process of learning, but they will also have time and space for their own studies.
Their employment opportunities are varied and extensive. We want to actively use the knowledge and different qualities of the volunteers in our day to day learning processes. For example, we would like the volunteer to accompany the children in their creative projects. This could be achieved through practical or oral assistance. Mostly the older children would love to find out about the countries of origin of the volunteers, their families and their way of life. This could also result in practical activities where the children could use what they have learned. What we find a particularly big asset is the use of the volunteer's linguistic background for creative linguistic support. This has nothing to do with the usual language training. It is a much more natural, playful use of the language. We would be very happy for the volunteers to accompany individual children throughout the school day, to help with small manual repairs or get involved in sporting activities. We will offer them room and time to develop their creative ideas.
