Resumo: The hosting organization is based in a Park, a large park. The organisation has a friendly team of staff and volunteers, including 10 part-time and 2 full-time staff members and volunteers contributing over 1000 hours per month. A wide range of people make use of the organisation, including people with a range of physical and learning disabilities. The organisation serves both the local community and visitors to the town wanting to make use of the cafe and cycle hire facilities.

Volunteers will live in a shared house, often with other EVS volunteers on projects in Wales. In the house the volunteers will have their own bedrooms and shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. EVS volunteers will also have plenty of opportunities to meet other coordinating organization e volunteers, both local and international. They will have the chance to join other coordinating organization e events and activities, ranging from volunteer community projects to social events.

The organization is located in a small and lively capital city in the south east of Wales. It’s a relaxed city with activities to suit everyone – music, sport, theatre, environmental projects, shops etc. It is easy to travel around the city on foot, by bicycle or by bus. It is a university city with plenty of activities aimed at students and young people. The town has a number of large parks and volunteers will be able to visit nearby beaches and mountains easily by public transport. There are also good public transport links to other cities in the UK. Volunteers will have plenty of opportunities to learn about contemporary Welsh culture.

Perfil: Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: The volunteer will be based at the organizationand spend approximately 50% of her/ his time with the team. The volunteer will then spend the rest of their time with other the town-based organisations working in the area of cycling and sustainable transport. This will make the project varied and an exciting opportunity for the volunteers. There will also be the opportunity to work with the Cycle Workshop, repairing and fixing bikes for sale.

These organisations cooperate regularly on projects and have established links. The activities will be coordinated and overseen by the staff.
For the first few months, volunteers will focus on learning about the activities of the different organisations and their approaches to promoting cycling and sustainable transport with the community in Cardiff. Volunteers will be supporting staff members and existing activities. As the project progresses, volunteers will have the opportunity to follow specific interests and shape the project more , taking the lead on project activities when appropriate.
