Resumo: The volunteers will experience working with young people who are members of our affiliated clubs in the area. The volunteers will work alongside qualified members of staff and trained volunteers and will interact with young people (11-16 yrs) in support of the clubs’ activities programmes. The volunteers would be found accommodation locally. The area where the volunteers are based is an ex-coalfields area, generally suffering from high unemployment and disengagement where young people can tend to feel marginalised and lack ambition and self-esteem.
People resident in the local community are generally very friendly and readily welcome visitors from abroad wholeheartedly. People who visit tend to make lasting friendships and will return to visit the area again.
The participant will be resident in accomodation that will suit the puposes required. This will consist of a rented house, shared with other EVS volunteers based in the same area. It will be close to the project and will include their own room with shared bathroom facilities.
