Resumo: The region Nord-Pas de Calais is a French administrative region consisted of two departments the North and the Pas de Calais. Till the end of the XXth century, "North" also indicated the region, as the department. The region was formerly a part of Spanish Pays-Bas and South Pays-Bas, and became definitively French only in 1713. The historic provinces composing Nord-Pas de Calais are, mainly, Artois and Flander, names that remain very current even today.
Nord-Pas-de-Calais, situated within a zone where live more than 100 million inhabitants in a 300-kilometre beam, is a European crossroads.
The organization is located in a town with 200 000 inhabitants, is in the North of France near the border with Belgium. The town was a Cultural European Capital and the cultural offer is very developed there. Cinema, theatre, and concert halls for all the musical genres, dances, and museums: all the artistic disciplines are represented.
The town has an ideal geographical position to discover the large close European metropolises. Thanks in particular to the TGV and Eurostar (high-speed trains), Brussels, Paris and London are at respectively 45 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hours of the town centre.
The architecture testifies of the local history: historic districts, old rehabilitated factories and business centres.
The economic activity bases on the business and the services since the disappearance of the textile industry. Business centres developed as well as the infrastructures of communication.
The town has an ideal geographical position to discover the big nearby European metropolises. Due to the T.G.V. and to the Eurostar, Brussels, Paris and London are in respectively 45 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hours from the city centre.
The volunteers will be accommodated either in home for young people or in collocation. They will have a single room and the possibility to prepare their meals. They will receive a monthly food allowance of 270,00 euros amount and a monthly ticket.
Perfil: Profile of the volunteers:
- Able to integrate into a multicultural group
- Avid to involve into actions with different public
- Liking the communication by various forms (oral, written, body language, … )
- Sensitive to the people with less opportunities
- Wishing to acquire and to share experiences, knowledge and skills
- Interested in the European Union: its variety and its future
- Respectful of the opinion of others, open-minded, tolerant and peaceful.
Age: 18 until 30 years old
Selection:
- All the applications will be studied and an answer will be brought to it (positive or negative)
- The selection will be made on the basis of the established profile
- The choice will concern to the applications for which the experience of the EVS will be at the same time reflected clearly and will present a real enrichment for the future of the volunteers.
Tarefas: The volunteers will have access in the service of the Credit Leisure activities allowing them to buy places of spectacles (cinema, dance, theatre, concerts, and museums) with a preferential rate.
The possibilities of learning are present at various levels:
At the regional level environment:
- Discovery of the cultural, economic and social regional variety: rural and urban Zones; local stories; agricultural, industrial and maritime zones; economic, industrial, social and cultural evolutions connected to the economic recon version.
- Discovery of the wealth of the clubs and societies in the domains of: the Youth, the culture, the sport, the social, the inclusion, etc.
- Discovery of the organization of the youth policies and the existing links between the main actors in the region: North - Pas-de-Calais regional council, North and Pas de Calais General Councils, Regional Direction Youth/Sports and Social Cohesion, Youth Information Regional Centre, Regional Animation.
At the voluntary service level :
- Intercultural and linguistic discovery by the meeting and the activities led with the young people and the youth workers from the local youth organizations
- Learning connected to the communication and to the teamwork: required to find or to invent modes of communication with the young people met in the irganization or in local partners. Development of the creativity. Organization of the teamwork (objectives, skills to be mobilized, distribution of the tasks, etc.).
- Learning connected to the Implementation of projects: Youth in Action program knowledge and actions 1 and 2 in particular. Implementation of projects Methodology. Valuation, scattering and actions of communication for the developed projects.
- Learning connected to the written / oral French expression, to the drafting and to the necessary office computing techniques: inquiries (writing of questionnaires, interviews, exploitation of the results, the synthesis). Creation of a newspaper of the volunteers (presentation, choice of the subjects, the drafting, the imaging, the layout, the printing, the distribution).
- Learning connected to stereotypes / intercultural prejudices and in the immigration: their previous history; their development; the answers to be brought to it; etc.
- Learning connected to its own experience : expatriation, confrontation and cultural shock, integration, etc.
" Learn to learn ": global Step including the learning and their reinvestment in the actions supported by the tutor guidance. Evaluation of its needs of learning, their stake in accordance with the objectives of the project (of the volunteer and the organisation), intensification of the self-confidence for a positive attitude of acquisition of skills and to facilitate and to encourage initiatives.
The role of the volunteers will be varied. They will be alternately:
- Witnesses and storytellers of their own experience of mobility, expatriation and intercultural meetings,
- Resources Persons for the young people of the region and the structures of guidance,
- Creators of new synergies and new regional and European partnerships.
The activities will take place into the organization :
- Proposed to the volunteers:
Preparation of a mobility guide : stereotypes and intercultural prejudices, mobility brakes, the European Union, the European awareness, etc.
Development of projects: volunteers' personal projects, guidance of young people projects connected to the other actions of the program (actions 1, 2, etc.).
Development of new partnerships: mainly with the sending organisations of the volunteers to register the cooperation in the duration.
Youth In Action promotion: information by the meeting with the structures and the young people of the region (formal meetings, festive events, etc.).
Creation of a newspaper: choice of the subjects, drafting and distribution.
- Proposed by the volunteers:
All the activities that can enrich the initiative of the volunteers will be guided,
Activities connected to the origin of the volunteers (geographical, linguistic, social, etc.) and to their expectations,
Mobilizing activity "Learn to learn ".
Example of activities:
- Realization of inquiries and interviews for collection of information,
- Public presentation of the program and the European Voluntary Service,
- Participation to workshops with young people and\or organisations (Actions 1, 2, etc., linguistic sensitization, etc.),
- Participation in the implementation of events (intercultural festive meetings, Europe celebration, etc.),
- Drafting of articles, shots and creative activities in communication.
The activities proposed by the structure and by the volunteers will be harmonized in the Activities Agreement. Its drafting must be established longer in advance to allow the integration of the expectations of the various parties.
