Resumo: The project takes place 70km from the capital city of Iceland in a rural area. The center is placed by the lake, surrounded by beautiful nature, mountains and farmland. Nearest town 20km away. The town has all the facilities and service as any major town, even if it is rather small. Our volunteers live at the town during the week and during their time off they have the option of staying in the town and are driven there by car, where they have a place to stay at the centre.

The volunteers are split up by gender where female volunteers share a room and male volunteers share a room. Hafnarfjörður is a town of 25.000 inhabitants. In both centers the volunteers have computer and internet access, they are provided with all meals at the centers they buy their own food and are paid back by the organisation. Pocket money is paid by the organisation at the beginning of each month.

Perfil: A positive attitude and the will to learn new things will go a long way. It helps if the volunteer is ambitious towards his/her assignements and we hope that the volunteers develop confidence to show initiative and hold responsibility. We give them the support they need, all they need is the positive attitude and the will to work and learn.
Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: The volunteer will have the opportunity to live in a rural area where people come together to enjoy themselves. The project is a very positive experience for the participants as well as the staff and volunteers.

The role is very much up to the volunteer. We hope that the volunteer will be active and show initiative and interest. Beeing a scout organisation, we are used to working with international scouts and it is very important to us to have the foreign volunteers to give the children the experience of international cooperation. It fits our profile very well.

Typical activities for the volunteer include: assisting the children during mealtimes, bedtimes, during their adventure activities, running some of the activities, helping in the kitchen, cleaning the houses, some carpentry, painting etc. If the volunteer has an idea about a fun thing to do during the evenings or during the camp activities, they have often created a "post" and made their own show for the children to participate in. The activities are sesonal so the work might be different from week to week and for spring, summer and autom. We also offer our volunteers to work in Hafnarfjörður during the summer time which is 20 km. from the capital. In Hafnarfjörður the volunteer will work at summer camp for children and at the guesthouse. The volunteer might be asked to work weekends and will be given time time off in the week in return.

15% Maintainance (painting, carpentry fixing etc.)
50% Summer/school camps
