Resumo: The municipality is one of the largest in Denmark with approximately 90.000 inhabitants of which 60.000 lives in the city.

Geographically, the municipality is situated in the southernmost part of the peninsula of Jutland close to the German border.
Economically.

Socially, the municipality is situated at the boundary between the urban and the rural parts of Denmark and encompasses both. So the youth from the different districts live in realities, that may be quite different from each other.
The Youth School makes activities for and with all of them, which creates a foundation for many different kinds of projects aimed at different groups of youth.

The volunteers will live with host-families in the City, so that they will have a social network to draw upon apart from the Youth School organization. The town is situated fairly in the middle of Denmark with a larger railroad-station, so the volunteers will have plenty of opportunities to travel to other parts of Denmark. This is important to us, as we also see ourselves as ambassadors of Denmark and want our volunteers to experience Denmark.

Perfil: As an organization, we are open to volunteers from all over Europe and from all backgrounds. We would prefer volunteers older than 20, though, as the projects also will include some responsibility and personal maturity on the part of the volunteer. Also, we would like volunteers, who wish to specialize or develop their competences further in a specific area, they already have some knowledge of, as the projects, we are planning, will contain complex aspects.

Everyone can apply for a stay at the organization. We will search volunteers through the AFS network, YouthNetworks and the network.

Tarefas: The Youth School offers the volunteers the safety of being part of a large, flexible and friendly organization, that will facilitate their accomodation in many ways, as we can and will provide the optimal conditions for a volunteer to develop their competencies as well as experience Denmark.

The role of the volunteer will be as a project manager of a sort in the sense, that he/she will have a large influence on the project, that he/she participates in. We wish to develop meaningful projects but we prioritize developing the volunteer just as highly; both professionally and socially. So when the volunteer departs from the city, he or she will do so with a lot of new friends, with some great experiences for life and with a lot(!) of professional tools, that they have been familiarized with, so that they are well-equipped to studyfurther or start their careeers.

The volunteer will receive a thorough presentation of the organization and all of its activities. They will also try the different aspects themselves while being in “job practice” in the different branches. In this way, they will have a deep understanding of the organization, its core values and of the youngsters, we work with, before beginning the volunteers own project.
The learning will come from the experiences of the actual development and implementation of the volunteers’ project as well as from the close sparring with one of our employees, that works with projects and will have working with the volunteer as one of his core functions.

We have many different activities and projects planned for potential volunteers including teaching our student council social media competences, developing a new strategy for using facebook, organizing a national youth conference on democracy, creating a workshop comparing youth culture in different european countries and many more.
