Resumo:
A volunteer is invited to cooperate with the day centre for youngsters created with the aim to develop their hobbies as well as art and sport skills through non-formal process of teaching/learning. It also provides activities and care for children aged tree and four similar to ones provided by kindergartens. The centre is located in calm and picturesque area next to one of the biggest parks in the city and opposite to student dormitories. It offers a wide choice of interesting and creative activities for many children who are inhabitants of the V district.. All the activities are led and supervised by qualified teachers or tutors.

The project assumes that by active participation of the volunteer in the activities and through art, sport, joyful integration children will be able to get to know the other part of European heritage. The children are 3- 18 years old and are divided into aged groups.

The old part of the city is regarded as a fascinating historic area rich in heritage. The historic quarters constitute only a small part of present-day, which is now the largest city in the Lesser Poland region. The geographical position makes KrakA3w an ideal base for excursions to Polish mountains or the picturesque valleys. The city is also well positioned for national and international connections.

The city is said to be the cultural capital of Poland and there are many reasons for that claim. The oldest Polish university is situated here. Plenty of theatre, film, music events and festivals take place through the whole year and there are a lot of museums and galleries varied in character. The intensive nightlife can be compared to that

Perfil: Our organization is open to working with any partner. We don’t have any expectations about the type of sending organization we want to cooperate with. As the volunteer will be working about 5 hours a day with children aged three and four it is essential that she/he is a calm and patient person fond of children. She/he should have the certificate that she/he is healthy and can work with little children. Apart from that the volunteer should be creative, open minded, communicative, keen on integrating with the children and local community. Good knowledge of English is not necessary though it could help to communicate especially with the children who learn English.
Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: The volunteer will be asked to help teacher in the kindergarten group of children aged tree and four. Her/his main tasks will be to help children in everyday activities like using the toilet, washing hands, putting on, taking off clothes, eating, to help in "educational" activities (drawing, painting, cutting out and many others little children do in the kindergarten), to keep the classroom neat and tidy, to help the teacher during walks, games, outdoor activities. The volunteer will always work in cooperation with a teacher or tutor and will never be expected to work without their support.
The European volunteer will also have the possibility to take part in other occasional art, cultural, sport events, weekend trips or excursions that are organized by our organization.

As a cultural centre for youngsters the organization focuses on art and music education as well as on teaching languages. It will be the volunteer task to teach children songs in foreign language as well as play with them in her/his mother tongue. It will be presented to parents how their children develop their language skills.

MA‚odzieA1owy Dom Kultury is holding following art classes: dance, manual art, music – guitar and singing and sport groups: skiing, cycling, karate, gymnastic. The excursion and holiday camps which are organized by MA‚odziezowy Dom Kultury are important part of its activity and are held in holiday resorts that our Youth Center have at its disposal. Two of them are located in KrakA3w and another two in famous resorts of southern Poland in Chocholow and Szczawnica. The holiday centers are equipped with football pitches, volleyball courts, basketball fields, horse riding centre and cycling route. There, apart from having fun and joyful activities, the volunteer will help the children to develop their dexterity, physical condition.
The volunteer will be also asked to prepare presentation about her/his country ( culture, national legends, customs, food, famous people) for the participants of language groups. It will allow our children to experience different culture and to practice foreign languages. As children will be asked to tell the volunteer about our country she/he will have the opportunity to find out some details about Poland as well as practice Polish.
The non-formal course of Polish language is once a week during all EVS project. Saturdays and Sundays, Easter and Christmas as well as national days is a free time. If the volunteer is asked to help in any event at the weekend she/he will have another day free. She/he can also volunteer to take part in every event .
In the evenings and during the weekends the volunteer will have the possibility to integrate with a big group of European volunteers hosted by co-ordinating organization STRIM and take part in all actions organized by this organization.
