Resumo: The hosting organization is located in a town which is beautifully situated at the banks. The environment is very influenced by the fjord and the town is an old fishing town. Now the fishing trade has declined and it is now smaller industries and companies doing different kinds of services.
In the summertime Logstor is full of tourists, many sailboats and visiters are coming due to the lovely seaside.

Also in Logstor there has been several institutions for people with different handicaps and especially the mentally handicapped are well represented in the local community. The people at Logstor are very open towards handicapped and they are very concidered in their dealings with people with special needs.
The students at the organization do the training of their practical skills in the shops of Logstor and do their banking at the local bank. The students at the organization is very much a part of the local community and are welcommed there!

Perfil: Initially we have been contacted by a young man from Estonia who is interested in coming here. He is a young man with fewer possibilities and we find it interesting and challeging to engage him in our dalily activities. Therefore we will firstly be interested in trying to match him and set up some goog conditions for him.

Further mlore (like the following year) we will also be interested in young people who are interested in working with young people with dissabilites – both in the sense of teaching but also through different practical actvities. Especially in the creative line – music, drama and sports.
We are open to volunteers from all countries who can speak English, or the Scandinavian languages.
Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: In terms of service and learning opportunities we can give the volunteer a unique experience with our students. We can offer an environment where the volunteer can be part of a daliy life full of action and challenging acitivites supporting the students in growing in knowledge and skills. All with the focus of training each student to the maximum potential of his/her abiblities.
It is our goal to help the student grow as independent as possible and as a residential school that involves training all the practical skills that it takes to be an adult living an independent life.

We have a very practical approach to teahing and the volunteer will be part of that training. We see the volunteer can contribute in many ways such as – helping the students with disabilies to clean, cook, training sports, play music, communicate on the web, support the staff in teaching and other activities.

We see the volunteer being involved in the social life of the students – play games, go to the cinema, go shopping, go to the café, go on trips and tours.
We see the volunteer will be able to give an extra input to the students, especially in the area of the students free time. The volunteer will be an asset in many ways to the students but we also believe that the students will be an asset to the volunteer and give him an experience for life.

In our protected work shop for adults the volunteer can be involved in making theatre (mime mask performances) with a group of very experienced players. In spite of the players disabilities the quality of the work is unique and the volunteer has the possiblity of taking active part in these productions.
The volunteer will also have the opportunity to be involved in production of art – both painting and pottery.
