Resumo: The hosting organization is located is in a town of 110.000 inhabitants (almost 500.000 including suburbs). The town is 100km away from Paris (easy to go by train) and 60kms from seaside.

There’s a wealthy cultural and historic living here, even if WW2 has destroyed a lot of buildings. The town is also continuing to develop economically speaking, with important domains like trade, transport and services (despite an unemployment rate of almost 10%).

Some of the french great artists are born here or has lived here (like Monet). There is a great ice hockey team here (multi time french champion).

There’s also a great hub in transport (subway) and big infrastructures for sport and music (opera or modern music).
The organization has hosted 10.000 young people in 2011. And follow 5.000 of them regularly.the average audience here is someone who doesn’t have A Level, a woman and 22 years old. Principal demands are around employment and training.

European mobility is a specific tool used by the organization to offer specific solutions to our audience, because we know that this tool is very useful to gain capacities in confidence, maturity, open mindness, and professionnal capacities.
Hosting a volunteer here allow us to grow projects in young people’s minds, projects around european mobility.

The housing is guaranteed in our partner, FJT which is a place for young workers who can stay during one year. Our future volunteer can meet people from his/her age and discover a different culture.

Perfil: We wish to host volunteers from 18 to 25 years old/ We don’t have any defined profiles. We wish to recruit with the help of a motivation letter (with a CV when needed)and we’ll take care of application from young people with less opportunities, because they’re our main audience and we’re used to work with them in our daily work.We will answer to every applications and we’d like to work with any kind of partners.

The organization will recruit in a teamwork frame : we first work on a preselection amongst all applications, then the mentor gives a short list to the direction staff, who only take 3 applications based on skills. Then the mentor call the last 3 to check motivation, profile matching and talk about what can be brought by the volunteer to our structure. So it means that there’s not only one look on applications.

The volunteer should have an interest in social work, an interest towards youth with difficulties. The volunteer should like to work in a team. Adaptability, creativity and positive attitude is required, as long as the volunteer shows capacity to learn and share things with others..

Tarefas: For the volunteer, the organization could be a good place to learn :
how works a french association composed of 100 persons (advisors and admin staff). Discovering the french system of social & professionnal inclusion for young people and local development dynamic.
Discovering inclusion actions towards young people 16-25 years old
Using ITC, the organization own software and its intranet
Learning or improving french language
Learning methodology of project
Animation of groups of young people (information about european actions from YIA at the the organization )
Discovering local cultural life, diversity of social and economic life, and local associative network(sport, culture, leisure, youth)

The organization will offer to the volunteer a flat well equipped, everyday food for every meal (depending on his/her eventual diet),and tickets for daily local transport.

More precisely, the volunteer will wxork with his mentor around these themes :

1. mobility (50%)
The volunteer could work on the place of mobility in an inclusion path for a young person from the organization. Because he’s a volunteer and because he’s been through the process of being a volunteer, he could use his experience, his motivation, his own skills to work on young people’s motivation to go abroad and leave France with EVS in workshops.

Into these, he could inform young people on different plans of action linked to international mobility. In a near time distance, this workshop could be placed in a “tool box”, composed of practical information sheets (YIA or other programs), of contacts of local and links towards local structure or european partners. This tool box could be useful to make EVS sending easier.
His role will be different from advisors from the organization : he’ll inform the team about his workshop, will be a resource of information around european actions. He could also be a good help to give his point of view about a young people that he has met during his workshop.

2. Volunteering workshop
The volunteer will also have the opportunity to organize a workshop around local volunteering. It consists to give information about what can volunteering can bring to them (new capacities, invest themselves in local community, to help other in a larger scale).the role of the volunteer here is to follow young people who are interested in this frame, to make them meet local associations who are involved in local help (like Salvation Army, or Red Cross…). The EVS volunteer will also have to make sure that the young person will be correctly hosted, that he will have correct missions. At the end, he or she will help the volunteer to get a capacity diploma, which is a good tool to work on capactity gain.

3. developing a personal project.
The volunteer should create and build a project at the organization . He/she’ll be followed by the mentor. Our structure will validate the project at the end.
