Resumo: The volunteer will integrate the team, regional delegation of the organization. The staff of the organization has 4 employees. We host regularly interns and longterm volunteers . 8 people are on the board, some living in La Ferté, some other in other
areas of the regions but they're meeting regularly at the city.
The headquarter is in the North of the district, on a former camping, which enables us to host youth groups, seminars, training sessions and international workcamps from april to october. This place is located on behalf of the river and 5 minutes away from the city center.
The town has one swimming pool, a public library, many associations and is on the bank of the Marne which allow to do many activities.
The organization is involved with many organizations in the local community and the volunteer will meet and work with other organizations of the region. We especially work a lot with social, cultural associations.
The volunteer will be hosted at the site of the organization and will be sharing a small house and a wooden
caravan with other volunteers. The house has a bathroom, a kitchen and a shared bedroom fit to host
volunteers. The wooden caravan has two bedrooms and a livingroom.
Staff will be available to talk
with the volunteers to be sure the volunteers will be able to gain all the benefits of his/her volunteer
experience in a collective housing. The collective aspect is an important part of the project. The
rules of the house will be discussed with the volunteers.
The organization will be hosting 3 to 4 long term volunteers.
Perfil: The association don't ask for any specific competence from the volunteers. That is why we never have established a profile in the volunteering projects we are running. SJ has even a strong principle which is promoting and encourage a volunteer participation of everyone, especially young people with less opportunities.
Moreover, regarding the Youth in Action program recommendations, EVS has to be opened to every young people, with no distinction for any competences, social background or sexual identity. We agree with this principle and that is why we make sure that our projects are accessible to each person who is motivated.
This involves a strong partnership with the organisations abroad we are working with : we give them detailed informations that are then given to the volunteers in order to meet their expectations. Volunteers who are expected on our projects are young unemployed people having less qualifications. EVS tend to be a key step in their professional and personal career. These young people are followed by social workers in their country, connected to their sending organisation and therefore EVS is a long-term process.
We are expecting that volunteers have a great understanding of the global project and that they want to get involved in a collective dynamic. We consider volunteering as an act of exchange between a volunteer who offers his time and his motivation for a collective interest and a hosting community which offers a field of experimentation and personal construction. Regarding these objectives, the most important factor for the hosting organisation is the motivation of the volunteer and his will of getting involve in the project.
Only motivation of the EVS volunteer is watched. The equality of the selection is guaranteed by the national head-office of the association.
We make an individual phone interview for each volunteer before his coming into the project. It attest that the volunteer knows well the project of the association in its globality.
The head office of the association is the coordinator of the hosting of volunteers with sending organisations and guaranty the accessibility for short-term EVS to people with less opportunities.
Age: 18 until 30 years old
Tarefas: Through their involvement in local activities, the volunteers will be able to get a sense of
responsibility, to get involved actively in the local community and to think when they return to their
country, about new ways of becoming active citizens in their every day life.
We believe that volunteers, by running projects and activities in the organization, will learn to be more
responsible and to take initiatives which will be useful in their social and professional life.
For the shortterm and longterm volunteers hosting a weekly evaluation will be organized with the
group to give feedback about the projects and collective life.
Times will be organized for trainings and discussions but also to assess motivations of the volunteers, objectives and results of the activities. The volunteer will be able to request individual
evaluations whenever he/she wants. Volunteers of the association (especially board members) take an active part in the implementation and support of the project. As a result, they will be involved in the support of the volunteers.
During the national events, the volunteers will be able to discover the French territory and will have
a better understanding of French association's life especially the project.
Many organizations have been created by volunteers when they return in their country, others have become project leaders in partner organizations.
The organization implements several projects in the social, cultural and integration fields. As for an organization based on people's education, it is highly important that they should work on projects with people coming from different cultural backgrounds.
In this framework, volunteers bring the very necessary intercultural touch to our projects. In all our
actions, they help us to keep an intercultural distance, to work on our prejudice, to cross our looks
and views on the world.
Thanks to their status and commitment, the volunteers bring along deep thinking about each one's responsibility and about one's involvement as a person and as a citizen. In every action, they draw people's attention about voluntary work and promote it.
They are the stamina of our organization and they keep us aware.
They make proposals, they have their external point of view and they ceaselessly question our project, to make it progress and get better.
