Resumo: "The Uganda Catholic Worker on the other hand is a catholic faith based non profit organisation serving the youths of Wakiso district. The Internationa catholic Worker movement was founde by Dorothy Day and Peter Mauri and the uganda Catholic Worker is the first and only catholic worker organisation of its kind in Africa This organisation targets the poor, helpless and marginalized youths of Wakiso district To achieve success the catholic worker carries out corporal and spiritual works of mercy as put forth by the founders of the catholic worker movement.
We have 4 project through which our activies are chaneled and the are: Reach out project Child care project Prison Project Practical living project This EVS project is a Christian founded project that and seeks to reach out to the poor and helpless marginalized youths of Wakiso District of Uganda. The project seeks to empower and equip marginalized youths with the knowledge and skills they need to develop and live their lives sustainably. The project target group find themselves marginalized due to the fact they lack education and life skills. This project seeks to address this problem through the project programs here below. THIS SHALL BE ACHIEVED THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS: Talent development, Reproductive health, Personal management, Behavioral change, Entrepreneur skills development and Micro enterprises. The Project programs shall be divided into 1 program implemented for a period 2 months and an evaluation carried out at the end of the program period. The volunteers shall be guided throughout the project implementation but it is also have basic knowledge about the project programs."

Perfil: PLEASE NOTE - Volunteer's should be pro-efficient in English, be flexible and open minded, a Christian and have basic experience working and relating with youths especially the less fortunate. Applying volunteers should be rich in skills related to the project since the volunteer's input will be very vital for project success. We are christians so all christian public holidays like (Easter, Christmas)are respected and these shall added to the volunteer's 2 week annual holiday break. Language lessons and orientation is a compulsory procedure on arrival. It is important that the volunteer knows this project is to be implemented in rural areas of Wakiso. All the benefits accorded to EVS volunteers shall stand and be provided to he volunteers as put forth by the EVS guide.

Tarefas: A TYPICAL VOLUNTEER'S DAY - The day starts with preparation of the day's program activities with the project mentor and the project team at 9:00 Am at the project office. The project team together with the volunteers set out to the field to meet the target youths with in the communities to carry out the day's program activities. These meetings last for averagely 3 hours of learning and then 2 hours of practical engagements resulting from the meetings. At 3:00 Pm the team returns to office to make the days evaluations and key preconceptions for the following day. Some days will be hectic while other days will have very light work.
