Resumo: The city is situated in the south-eastern part of Latvia. It is 240km. from Riga, the capital of Latvia. It is considered to be the second largest city in the country. This is a town of various possibilities for youngsters, and there is much to do for them. There is a theatre and concert halls. Our school is in the city centre next to the recreation park, besides it is located within ten minutes` walk to the railway station.There is `Ice Hall` in the recreation park where anyone can skate, figure skate and play hockey. International tours take place here.

The city is a cultural centre: American Info Centre, Polish Centre, German Centre, French Centre and others. There are many youth clubs giving a chance to participate in different activities taking into consideration various hobbies.

Perfil: We would like to host a young, creative, flexible and easily adjustable person to new environment. It is preferably the volunteer has had some experience in working with students.
There will be a school committee consisting of several members who will ensure an open and transparent recruitment process as well as the overall accessibility of EVS to all young people. The school committee`s members are: School principle, head teacher, project leader, psycologist, social consultant and members of School Parliament.
Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: -We would like him to supervise `The English Club` and organise different activities not only for students of our school but attract the young people of the local community, e.g. to establish and support contacts with City Music School and Art School administrations and students.

-We will give him an opportunity to work as a teacher`s assistant at school. (at the lessons and consultations)
-We could offer him to teach English our primary school teachers.
-There will be a possibility to do consultancy work. (cooperation with school psychologist)

-Under the guidence of our `School Parliament` the volunteer will participate and organise activities concerning cultural diversities and mutual understanding.(e.g. Debates `The Role of IT in Youth Communication.`)

-Our school pays much attention to healthy lifestyle of our students that is why the volunteer will have an opportunity to participate in sports events together with our students organised in school and outside.

-We are ready to take into consideration all wishes and desires of the volunteer connected with his work as well as private life in order to make his staying in our school comfortable.

-The school administration is extremely flexible in solving any unpredictable problems facing the volunteer and it strives to mutual understanding.

The volunteer will have his own working place (a table in Room No.24), a computer, a free access to the internet and some other IT appliances. While communicating with students and Russian and Latvian speaking staff he will have a chance to get basic knowledge in Russian and Latvian. Besides he could attend lessons on the Russian and Latvian languages if he wishes, in order to make the process of learning new languages much easier.
