Resumo: Outline the project environment for the suggested voluntary Service, including the local community where the project will take place (e.g. geographical, social and economical environment). If the host placement is located in a live-in community, please include the rules and conditions that apply also for the volunteer.
PROJECT SETTING
The European volunteers will live and work at the male community the firsthouse or at the female one the sencond house. They will have a room (single room or shared with another volunteer of the same sex) and a bathroom, within the facility, or back rooms. That meens that they will be given their own space, appropriately furnished, giving them enough privacy and independence. It is important they'll keep their room clean and tidy. They'll eat in the community helping hosts and operators in cooking.
The First House is situated in a little village. It is a big house with 1000 mq of space and 2500 mq of garden. The House is in the countryside to live open-air, produce part of our food, have spaces to play, be free and to guarantee protection to our hosts when necessary. Anyway, the house is well-connected with the urban contexts.
The second House is a three floors villa, with a garden. We have decided to open this community in town, where there are possibilities of work, study and cultural services. The building is shared with a community for needy women of the Cooperative , which is in the north part of the house.
The second House is situated in a central part, 10 minutes far from the railway station. In 2012 this House will move in a new home, still located in Pavia, in the residential neighborhood of well-connected to the city center.
Perfil: Please describe the profiles of volunteers you would like to receive in your organisation. Include information on how you ensure an open and transparent recruitment process as well as the overall accessibility of EVS to all young people. Consider further information about the type of Sending Organisation you want to cooperate with. This information can help the match-making between volunteer candidates, Sending Organisations and your organisation.
The organization can host volunteers in the two Communities for periods of 6/12 months. They will live together with the teenagers of the Communities sharing spaces and daily life.
The volunteers mustn't have a specific profile or particular characteristics. We're available to welcome every volunteers with a serious motivation towards our project and our hosts, with a lot of energy and curiosity.
We reckon that it is essential the availability to live in a complex contest and sometimes even conflictual like a Community for adolescents in difficulty. It is necessary that the applicant volunteers know how to adapt at the rules of the house with maturity and comprehension.
Considering the localization of our three headquarters and in order to gain a bigger autonomy and freedom of movement, we believe that the driving license would be useful.
For the recruitment of volunteers we send a communication to the Sending Organization in other Countries. Our accreditation as a Host Organization is present in the Database of the European Voluntary Service website.
Volunteers who have completed the experience at the organizationare involved in the recruitment process, and in preparation and preliminary training of new volunteers They play in their Country of origin activities of dissemination of experience.
We're open to co-operate with whatever sending association without any kind of discrimination.
We will do our best to guarantee a correct and transparent selection process towards each candidate that will contact us. When we receive a curriculum vitae, we ask to the candidate to answer to a motivational evaluation questionnaire. Then we have a phone interview to answer to any doubts and check any difficulties.
age: 18 until 30 years old
Tarefas: The different activities that the Communities carry out will be showed to the volunteers, in order to give them a global vision of our reality becoming able to understand more easily the specificity of each situation. According to inclinations and personal abilities the volunteers will be involved in some of the proposed activities: formative activities in classrooms and workshops (garden, vegetables and flowers, carpentry, catering...), artistic and sport activities, school support, watching films together and then discuss about them, support with the daily management of the house (preparation of meals with the hosts, maintenance of the house), organization and support of the free time activities, accompanying the teenagers to their check up or interviews with the social services. It is important to underline that the European Volunteers will never substitute the staff in the ordinary activities but will bring an adding value to our Communities helping the operators in the different activities, enriching and enhancing the work already in progress.
During the period of service, each volunteer will have the opportunity to propose ideas and projects in order to experience activities conduction: each volunteer, according to their skills and aspirations, will imagine and implement, with the Mentor, their own initiative (sporting, artistic, cultural, culinary, organizational ...) that will represent added value to the Community, to the hosts and to the local area.
The working timetable, generally, will be articulated into two shifts: one in the morning from 7:30 to 2:30 and one in the afternoon from 3:00 to 10:00. As the European Volunteers will live and work inside a Community, they'll have to keep in mind that the timetable might be flexible according to the needs of the day. We ask great flexibility and comprehension in this. However, their engagement won't exceed 7 hours per day and 5 days per week. The volunteers will mature two days off each month of service. Every week they'll have two days of rest, that won't be always Saturday and Sunday, because those days are very good occasions to socialize with the hosts and organize all together recreational activities or excursions. We will try however to mediate between the requests of the volunteers and the need of the Community.
