Resumo: The organization, in the north-eastern part of Poland, just 3 km from the border with Kaliningrad of the Russian Federation. The city has approximately 14 thousand inhabitants, covers an area of 17.2 km2 and it has a poorly developed industrial infrastructure and communication. The analysis of basic socio-economic indicators shows that the population of our region is the poorest in the country and it lives on a much lower level than the rest of the Polish population. This is due to many factors, including: high unemployment, a significant number of people receiving social assistance benefits and the low level of the average monthly wage in the national economy. Unemployment is one of the main social problems of the region, which covers a large part of young people. The statistical data collected by the District Labour Office shows that the unemployment rate in our region reaches 22.2%, for comparison, in Poland is 12.3%.This state of affairs has led to many negative social phenomena inhabitants of the region, which include: lack of social and professional life, learned helplessness, dependence on social assistance institutions, poverty, dysfunctional, social maladjustment and widespread pathological phenomena and they concern more and more young people. Poverty and lack of opportunities to improve the situation in our region, pushes many families and young generation on the margins of the society.

Undoubtedly, the biggest asset of the land is geographical and natural environment that is a large part of the area covered by the conservation law. In the area of the municipality was created Romincka Forest Landscape Park, where there are unique and interesting plants and animals. Especially valuable portions of the Park were extended protection in six nature reserves. The park is 80% forested, and it looks like the taiga.

Thanks to its location and natural conditions, became a city leisure - recreation and spa. The hills, forests, rivers, lakes and clean air make this place very attractive throughout the year for tourists and sports enthusiasts. Hikers walking and cycling can enjoy the many hiking trails, water disputes and the amateurs can enjoy canoeing. Our region also has good natural conditions for downhill and lowland. This is a city known for its cultural and sporting initiatives such as Days of the city, Meeting with Dance, Yotvingians Running, International Cross, International Competition in Scream, International competition in Kartacze eating and New Year's Charity Concert.

In addition, the city has a workable laboratory conducting Culture: music, contemporary dance, photo, plastic and ceramic. In spare time residents of the city rest in a park located in the center of the city, enjoy the swimming pool, gym, sports hall, play fields, mini bowling, rope, go to the cinema and visit the exhibition.

The project of EVS will be implemented in the Training and Education Center in the city that is located on the outskirts of the city, just 15 minutes walk from the city center. Volunteers taking part in the project will work with the staff of dealing with young people with reduced opportunities in life, showing the educational problems and who are in danger of falling out of the education system. They are young people aged 15-19 years, who are brought up in families of the poor, unemployed, large families, incomplete, insufficient care. These young people continue their education in the school system, at the same time training for craft professions.

Volunteers participating in the project will be accommodated in the dormitory for girls and boys in the Training and Education Center of VLC. They will live in a single room with a private bathroom, equipped with a bed, table, chairs, cabinets. During your stay, we provide access to a computer and the Internet, in the case of urgent need possibility to use the phone. Volunteers will use the new all-day board collective prepared for students of Training and Education Center of VLC staying in dormitory (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Whereas in weekends and holidays volunteers will have the possibility of receiving food or money for their purchase that they will prepare their own meals in the kitchen. During the project volunteers will be provided with mentorship having pedagogical education. Will also be able to count on the support of the coordinator of the project and host workers aimed at implementation of the project.

Perfil: The main criterion of recruitment to the project will be the volunteers’ personality (openness, communication skills, creativity, ability to work in a team, self-reliance and activity) knowledge of the activities of our project and the motivation and determination of a candidate to participate in our project. It would be great if volunteers had an experience in social work with young people with fewer opportunities, the ability to play a musical instrument and a knowledge of foreign languages, although this is not a condition for admission. This is only an additional advantage. During the recruitment process, volunteers will be asked to submit a CV, covering letter and fill in a questionnaire developed for the project. The profile of sending organisation will not be the basic criterion for voluntary cooperation. The condition for starting and maintaining long-term cooperation will be the reliability of the sending organisation in the selection of candidates for the project in terms of personality, competent to prepare them to participate in European voluntary service and in this project.

Orientation of the sending organisation to work with people, would be additional advantage for cooperation. We believe that your experience of sending organisation, can facilitate appropriate preparation of young people to work with people and familiarize these people with the realities of such work.
age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: Before performing the tasks volunteers will receive training in the field of health and safety and anti-fire protection. They will be familiar with the basic principles of working in the host organization. Volunteers will receive the support of the host institutions staff who will implement them and assist in the performance of tasks on individual workstations. Thanks to the implementation of the various tasks, the volunteers will have the opportunity to learn the specifics of the host organization's work, including the nature of the work with disadvantaged youth. They will learn about the different forms and methods of work used in the facility. Class practical apprenticeship will be an opportunity of knowing the different craft professions and it will acquire practical professional skills. Participation in the life of the host organization will create opportunities for knowledge of Polish culture, customs, traditions and cuisine. Volunteers will widen their knowledge about Poland because we expect their participation in events, festivals and organized trips. By being able to implement ideas of volunteers, they will be able to learn their self-presentation skills and the development of creativity. Participation in the preparation of projects and their implementation will equip volunteers in practical knowledge, which in the future they will be able to use by getting funds to implement their own ideas. Volunteers will also be able to participate in training courses organised for the staff of the Training and Education Centre of VLC. During the project volunteers will use regular Polish language lessons conducted by the teacher, who speaks English. Conversations in the workplace will enable quick and skilled mastery of the Polish language. During the implementation of the tasks, and in case of any difficulties, the volunteers will receive the necessary support from the coordinator of the project.
The main goal of this project is to support the staff of the Training and Education Centre of VLC in statutory tasks, combating social marginalisation of young people with fewer opportunities.
Volunteers will not replace full-time employee and their tasks will be:
- participation of young people in craft workshops (chef, blacksmith, carpenter, car mechanic, technologist of finishing works in construction or gardener). Volunteers will be able to choose a craft workshop in which they will work - 15%;
- help in organising after school activities (for example: sports, art, technical, theatre). We welcome in the project people who have the ability to play the musical instruments and creativity. A volunteer may have the ability to independently carry out extracurricular activities under the conditions and financial resources at the disposal of the Training and Education Centre of VLC - 10%;
- to familiarise the youth of the Training and Education Centre of VLC with the volunteers’ motherland and their culture - 5%,
- assistance in obtaining partners from countries of the European Union (searching for partner organisations, correspondence) - 15%;
- participation as an assistant in the implementation of national and international projects (logistic and substantive side of projects) - 15%;
- work on the preparation of projects, for example: international exchanges (assisting in the preparation of the documentation of the contest or the ability to work independently on the application) - 20%;
- support staff of the Training and Education Centre of VLC in the organization of special events and themed events, eg. open days of the facility, children's day, etc. - 5%,
- help in preparing daily meals for dormitory residents during the day in canteen - 10%
- foreign language classes (elementary level), motivating young people to learn foreign languages - 5%.
Volunteers interested in broadening their experience and who want to promote the idea of volunteering in the local community will be able to once a week to work for institutions cooperating with OHP. To partner institutions belong:
1. First Kindergarten Self-Government in the city, is an institution dedicated to children aged 3 to 6 years. Staff support the development of preschool children and their activity towards the world and the environment, and prepare to take up the educcation mainly through play. Kindergarten with children also organize concerts, performances and tours. The tasks of the volunteers in the facility will include:
- participation in arts activities, music, movement, gymnastics - 70%;
- participation in the organization of events and trips - 10%;
- conducting classes in a foreign language - 10%;
- to familiarize children with the culture of the country from which the volunteers come from - 10%.
2. Second Occupational Therapy Workshop, a day care facility, dealing with mentally disabled people unable to work. As part of its facility people with disabilities take part in an exercise rehabilitation and therapy. The task of the volunteers will be participating along with disabled people and carers in therapeutic exercises (ceramics, pottery, embroidery, woodcarving, preparing meals).
The volunteers’ work timetable
- 2 days from 8 00 a.m to 3.00 p.m ,
- 2 days from 8.00 a.m to 1.00 p.m and from 4.00 p.m to 6.00 p.m,
- 1 day from 8.00 a.m to 2.00 p.m

Working hours in the Training and Education Centre of VLC may be different due to time of different classes, workshops and young people’s activities. Time of volunteer work will not exceed 6-8 hours a day. Weekends (Saturday, Sunday) and all religious and national holidays celebrated in Poland, are for volunteers non- working days. In addition, volunteers will be entitled to leave. The dates will be fixed individually, by mutual agreement and according to the needs of volunteers.
