Resumo: The EVS volunteers would be based at the Club. The volunteers will experience working with young people who are members of our affiliated clubs in the area in other clubs. The volunteers will work alongside qualified members of staff and trained volunteers and will interact with young people (11-16 yrs) in support of the clubs’ activities programmes. The volunteers would be found accommodation locally. The area where the volunteers are based is an ex-coalfields area, generally suffering from high unemployment and disengagement where young people can tend to feel marginalised and lack ambition and self-esteem.
People resident in the local community are generally very friendly and readily welcome visitors from abroad wholeheartedly. People who visit tend to make lasting friendships and will return to visit the area again.
The participant will be resident in accomodation that will suit the puposes required. This will consist of a rented house, shared with other EVS volunteers based in the same area. It will be close to the project and will include their own room with shared bathroom facilities.
Perfil: The hosting organization will be looking for volunteers who are motivated to work with young people in a non formal environment as well as having an interest in sport and how it can be used in a youth work setting. Previous experience of working with young people would be good but is not essential.
The coordinating organization will manage a large part of the recruitment process for this project as coordinators. The project will be publicised through their international networks such as the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations and will also be posted on their website, social media and online networks such as Youth Networks so it is available to as many potential volunteers as possible.
The recruitment process for this project will be open and transparent and will include a specific application form from the coordinating organization. This application is designed to give volunteers a space to talk about their relevant skills and experience and their motivation for taking part in this particular project. The applications will go through an initial short listing process with the coordinating organisation and then the short list will be sent to the Clubs for further selection. Where possible, short listed volunteers will be contacted for a Skype or telephone interview before the final selection is made by the organization.
All unsuccessful candidates will be contacted and made aware of the final decision.
Age: 18 until 30 years old
Tarefas: EVS volunteers will work alongside staff and trained volunteers in support of the club activities. This would include supporting indoor and outdoor sports sessions, some of which would take part on weekday evenings and weekends. Volunteers will be given the oppportunity to design, plan and deliver their own project with the support of club staff and will also be able to access training opportunities
The volunteers’ tasks will include:
• Supporting the club leader in planning the daily and weekly activities programme.
• Supporting organised games in the club activity areas.
• Supporting and monitoring IT sessions and workshops.
• Supporting club sports coaches at training sessions.
• Supporting club sports coaches at club team games.
• Supporting club projects and workshops.
• Attending and supporting club trips and visits.
• Attending club management committee meetings and submitting reports.
• Liaising regularly with the organization staff to monitor progress.
We will ensure that the volunteers are guaranteed the support of staff, leaders and trained volunteers at all times. Our clubs are continually searching for more voluntary support and none of the duties mentioned would be replacing work carried out by paid staff.
