Resumo: The project will take place in the rural community in Romania. The beautiful surroundings and the mountain landscape shared by both Romanians and Roma ethnics will provide an excellent environment for building trust, tolerance and understanding between the different cultural groups participating in the project.
The volunteers will have the opportunity to learn basic Romanian, to experience life in a rural community in Romania and to develop or enhance intercultural, entrepreneurship, and social and civic competencies. They will run and participate in juggling workshops, will assist in running the youth centre, will deliver presentations on volunteering and so on to the local community.
The volunteers will help organize and run a 3-7 day event on nonformal education
Perfil: We do not have any special requests for the volunteer, but we think that it's good if the volunteer is over 20 until 30 years old. Both male and female volunteer are welcome. Availability for rural and outdoor activities and previous experience in youth clubs or street animation would be a considerable advantage. Our recruitment process will take into consideration the non discrimination principles of selection with regard to nationality, ethnicity, religion, gender and age.
Tarefas: The volunteers will be provided mentors in order to help plan their learning and personal development process. The organisation will also provide a learning journal for the volunteer’s learning process. Romanian language classes will be offered to the volunteers and they will receive training within the organisation on cultural differences, community identity and task related skills.
The volunteers role in the host organization is of major importance for the international dimension of our work in the rural community and for the european awarenes we are trying to develop within the community. The volunteer will be involved in most of the organisation’s activities . The volunteers will be considered as an extra resource in the youth club and will work together with staff members.
The volunteers will be a part of our international work. We hope to be active sending organisation as well as hosting organisation. The volunteers will be able to create their own projects, based on their interests, skills and experiences and will receive support in developing and fundraising their own initiatives .
The activities will be:
• Language classes
• Work meetings with organisation staff
• Mentoring meetings
• Discussions and round tables with local youth
• Presentations on volunteering and nonformal education in local schools and high schools
• Juggling and street arts workshops,
• Participatory art workshops (theatre, dance, music etc)
•
• Organizing and taking trips with local volunteers and local youth
• Help in running the youth centre’s library
• Help in planning and running organisation events (festivals, training courses etc),
• Development of personal projects, studies and others, depending on the interests, desires and needs of the volunteers.
The volunteers will support the leader of the negotiated tasks and take part in the every day work of the organization
The weekly schedule will consist of no less than 30 hours and no more than 40 hours each week. The daily prgramme will usually start at 10.00 AM and end at 05.00 PM. This programme is yet subject to change according to the time of year and the activities the organisation is involved in. For instance, the working schedule could start at 05.00 PM and end at 11.00 PM during the festivals or other high profile events.
