Resumo: Neste projeto vão participar 5 voluntários, 2 dos quais portugueses.

Red Bracelet:

is a project in the frame of European Voluntary Service in which 5 volunteers, from Portugal, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Italy, with few opportunities (educational problems), along 11 months of service in Craiova (RO)

- Will promote among Craiova’s community the importance of blood donation;

- Will develop step-by-step learning to learn competences through practical experiences;

The main activities that the volunteers will implement in the hosting community (in mix teams of 2-3 youngsters):


- Workshops for the youngsters in need of blood transfusions and with other health problems (like: quilling, origami, collage method, painting etc.);


The objectives of the project are:

1. The group of 5 volunteers will develop non-formal activities in support of young people with health issues from the Emergency Clinical Hospital

2. The group of 5 volunteers will promote the importance of blood donation among Craiova’s citizens

3. The group of 5 volunteers will develop, for themselves, learning to learn practical competences

Perfil: - Youngsters between 18 to 30 years, priority will be given for those aged 25 to 30

- Motivated to take part to all EVS stages/activities, especially by the work with children with special needs;

- nWith few opportunities: economical difficulties (unemployed for more then12 months or from families with incomes lower then 35% of national income/family member or from areas with an unemployment rate higher then 50%), special needs (deaf people/dumb people), leaving in rural area (small villages with few volunteering opportunities);

Tarefas: The EVS volunteers will carry out the following tasks which form the basis of a structured plan of non-formal learning:

1) Activities which aim to recruit potential blood donors and to promote the cases that need blood transfusions

2) Facilitate the access of blood donors to Blood Transfusion Center

3) Actions which aim to facilitate organizing workshops for young people who need blood transfusions and young people who have other serious health problems

4) Activities that underlie the development of Red Bracelets CLUB

Horário: Working hours and days off:

The volunteers will work 7 hours/day, 5 days/week (Saturday and Sunday are free except the cases of weekend activities – but the volunteers will receive free days in compensation during the week). Also, each EVS volunteer will have 2 free days / month, but the free days shouldn’t interfere with different events.

Formação: The volunteer will:

- Learn the use of the local language,

- Learn about the local culture and the culture of other countries;

- Develop skills in social integration and independent life;

- Develop skills of working in the team;

- Improve leadership skills and level of personal responsibility;

- Learn new working methods;

- Learn how to involve local youth, how to use youth animation

- Learn how to manage various events and activities, project management;

- Be aware of his own potential, cultivate new interests, determine plans for future life;

- Gain sense of self-worth, understand his contribution to society;
- Share responsibility for living together with a multi-national team of volunteers;

- Learn about the opportunities for young people at local, national and international level;

- Gain abilities in the field of active listening, communication and feed-back, intercultural learning and active citizenship throughout the courses he/she will attend;

- Learn how to present his/her own country, culture and traditions;

- Gain the ability of cooking traditional food and also learn different and new kinds of dishes;

- Developing / practicing competent leaders and other competencies (knowledge / skills);

- Boosts self-confidence and motivated to develop a balanced lifestyle that will accelerate the personal and social development;

- Provides multiple learning opportunities experimental / non-formal and informal;

- Provides a framework for putting into practice their own initiatives for reflection and (self-) evaluation,

- Offers various opportunities dissemination / exploitation of results and follow-up;

- Develop teamwork capacity;

- Develop attention, ability concentration and learning;

- Develop a better understanding of the importance of respecting sets of rules.

Language support:

The volunteers will be given local language classes on a weekly basis (2 hours per week) in order to help them to integrate better in our community.
