Resumo: The municipality is the basic administrative territorial unit for implementing local government.

The municipality is located in the southeastern part of the Rhodope Mountains. It borders with Greece to the east and south and its neighbours to the north and west are the municipalities of Lyubimets, Madjarovo and Krumovgrad. . The territory of this municipality is 820 sq. km and falls entirely within the Eastern Rhodopes physiographic region.

The population of the municipality numbers 8,628 people. There are 51small villages organized in 18 municipalities /kmetstva/ and the municipality is the administrative center with a population of 4260 inhabitants. The municipality is a typical representative of the municipalities of the "rural"type - the population is sparse, aging and scattered in many places.

Educational, cultural and social institutions
There are four schools in Ivailovgrad municipality, three primary schools (1st - 8th grades) in the villages of Svirachi, Jelezino and Belopoltsi and one Secondary school(1st-12th grades), situated in the municipal centre.

There is a regional community center – operating in the municipality, which is located in the municipal center-Ivaylovgrad and it has a very good basis for the development of the community and cultural activities. It works together with Ivaylovgrad municipality for better information and service delivery, storage and promotion of living cultural heritage in the region. The regional community center has branches in the villages of Slaveevo, Svirachi, Jelezino and in the Ladja district.

On the territory of this municipality are also functioning: Home for the aged,
providing shelter and care for 21 adults; Caritas of the Catholic Church in the village of Pokrovan that repeatedly accepted volunteers from similar French organization; Social Assistance Service .

The structure of the municipality has a detached unit for European programs and social activities, which works for the development and management of projects financed by the European Union and other donor organizations.

Perfil: age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: The activity has to do with the youth theater in the town. The volunteer will be able to work with a youth theater group and do a lot of theatrical activities with them; arrange the stage props and prepare the costumes. She will work with children and motivate them to participate in theatrical activities. It’s good if she likes art related activities, has ideas and the desire to carry them out eagerly and persistently. The volunteer will also collaborate with youth councils (parliaments), participate in different activities and projects. She will spread information about the European Voluntary Service in schools and the local community.
