Resumo: Our project is situated in two small villages in the mountains near the Italian boarder.

There are about 1000 inhabitants per village. The infrastructure contains a grocery store; a music store; hair dressing; and other several services. There are several possibilities for leisure activities like go hiking, climbing, skiing, swimming, biking or doing wintersports. The next bigger city is Innsbruck, which is located 35 km away from our village. There you can find different cultural possibilities.

The volunteer will live in one of the two communities, where she/he is offered an own room in the same house with the clients and some staff members.
One of the main objectives of the EVS at the organization is to create a good understanding and enrich experience of/with people with disabilities for the volunteer. Another objective is to enable intercultural learning at the organization – between the volunteers, residents and employees, as well as in the local communities. The volunteer will have the opportunity to learn about the Austrian /Tyrolean culture and tell about his/her own cultural experience and background.

The staff members living in the the organization make their own rules regarding cleaning up, buying food and doing leisure activities together. Important is the respect for each one and to look considerably after the proberty of the organization.

Perfil: First of all a volunteer candidate has to be, interested in working with disabled people in Austria, and he/she has to be ready to face a new cultural environment. She/he should be patient and like to work with disabled people. A basic knowledge of German would be an advantage as this is a German-speaking environement and the clients of the the organization don´t speak any other language. But it is not a condition.

Following criterias are important:
motivation to work with people with disabilities
openness to work in an intercultural team
readiness to live in a small community
motivation to learn German language
age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: The project tries to give clients different offers during the day according to their character, abilities and desires. With all those things the occupants need permanent support, where the volunteer will help them. They are always involved in the work together with the staff and so they can slowly get in touch with our clients. They also learn to understand better their needs and to react in the right way..

Daily activities/workshops:
Painting, repairing and producing furniture, making pottery objects. Listing and making music, singing, making sportive activities with the clients, etc. The project also tries to offer spare time possibilities for the occupants. The volunteers will accompany them for example: during free time or sport and culture events, walking through the beautiful landscape of the region, visiting exhibitions.

Beside the daily workshops the occupants of the organization need to visit the doctor, do shopping or just visit someone. Therefore they have to be accompanied by the volunteer and/or someone from our staff. The volunteer will enlarge the possibilities for them to go outside whenever they want.
Very important tasks are celebrations (traditional celebrations, birthdays or when somebody of the team is leaving). The volunteers can help to organise a party or some other celebration and bring in their own ideas. Through this the volunteer gets an idea about culture and habits in Tyrolean life.

Housework:
There is also work to do inside the house together with our occupants. The occupants need help with all the little daily things in life, like waking up, cleaning and dressing themselves, having breakfast, lunch or dinner, helping them to bed etc. This contains also supporting our staff in housework tasks like cooking, washing, ironing, cleaning, and shopping.

The volunteer is invited to realise their own projects and involve occupants. They should bring new creative ideas and suggestions. New ideas are always welcome.
