Resumo: The organization is located in one of the biggest cities of Armenia is one of the oldest cities in the world and has 169,000 inhabitants. The area is rich with many of its monuments and other historical sites to visit and see. The centre organization is located almost in the center of the city next to the Russian church after Saint Nikolay. The center is open from 9 AM to 6 PM everyday beside weekends. The staff working there is very kind and hospitable. The working language will be English but communication in Russian will also be possible because almost all the staff members of the centre know Russian language. The EVS volunteers will be integrated into caring duties of the social day care centre. At the beginning they will have the possibility to get to know the different fields of work with the employees of the centre and will co-operate in all age groups / 6-18 years old /. Volunteers will try to organize daily free-time activities for children and youngsters, holiday activities in the cooperation with the social worker and educators from the social day care centre. Volunteers will participate in discussions with the educators, in a case of interest will make home visits with social workers and psychologists. The EVS volunteers will have mentor out of the centre who will be available all the time. The volunteers will have own desks with computer and internet connection. During the day the volunteers will work 6 hours. Totally it will be 30 hours per week. Besides above mentioned activities the volunteers will take part in the projects, local youth activities of our supporting organization (Federation of Youth Clubs of Armenia . FYCA) too. With the support of SALTO EECA volunteers will take part in on-arrival and mid-term trainings with other EVS volunteers. Optionally the supporting organization will consult the volunteers about opportunities to travel in Armenia and the Caucasus region during the holidays. The EVS volunteers will live in a separate furnished apartment.
The apartment where the volunteers will live during their stay in Armenia has all the necessary conditions such as corresponding bedrooms /2 /, a living room combined TV-set and furniture, a kitchen with all the necessary stuff and a bathroom. The volunteers will have their private bedrooms but will share the living room, kitchen and the bathroom. The apartment has also an internet connection.
Perfil: Our project is open for every young people. In order to have a positive experience, it is desirable for the volunteer to bring a lot of initiative and motivation to her/his participation in activities with children and youngsters. The most important to have desire and strong interest to work with children and youngsters, the ability to study something new and have patience. The selection procedure will be with our supporting organization FYCA. It will consists of two stages – written motivation letter and CV, and interview (by phone or skype). The aim of the interview is to discuss motivation of the volunteer, his expectations of the project. Important aspect of the interview is to get to know the volunteer personally, which will make it easier to provide support to the volunteer during the project, orientate his/her personal learning, and assist the host centre in solving difficulties, should any arise. The structure of the project would enable the volunteer to gain experience, knowledge and skills, get to know new cultures and languages as well as implement his/her own initiatives.

Tarefas: The centre services at risk children between 6-18 years of age. EVS volunteers will work in the day care centre with children and youngsters and staff of the centre. The work will provide opportunities for personal development, non-formal learning and creativity. Additionally, volunteers will have opportunity to learn about local NGOs and their work, situation in the region, and have opportunity to participate to other activities of the Supporting organization FYCA with other volunteers . Volunteers will also get possibility to develop own small-scale activity or action connected to the project of the volunteer or outside of it jointly with other EVS volunteers. A week will include 30 working hours. Volunteers will have two days off per week, and settled number of holidays – so if some work activities are happening during the week-end, additional free time will be given during the week. Additionally, national state holidays will be free. Volunteers will have different types of working days, e.g. days with office work, including internet research of an interactive activities, putting together information materials, preparing handouts for activities etc. And there will be days with meetings, excursions, activities with children or local community. The project provides diverse and balanced activities, as well as space for own input and initiative of the volunteer. Volunteers will be actively involved in preparation and realization of the project activities, from planning stage to implementation and evaluation; they will work both individually and as part of a team. The volunteers will be working together with staff members of the centre joining activity held by organization and organizing and running free-time activities with children individually. Also, the volunteer will have Armenian language lessons twice a week with 1 hour duration, in a case of interest Russian language course will be provided. The lessons will be taught by the invited experienced educator. Volunteers tasks are as follows :
- prepare jointly with staff educational and free-time activities for the children (sport games, indoor games and activities, handicrafts, drawing)
- assist children and staff with social-domestic routine
- prepare and run excursions, sport tournaments and special activities for children and youngsters
- development of personal project of the volunteer jointly with children and staff)
- to make presentation about Youth in Action program / EVS /
- assist in the organization of exhibition of handmade classes of children and youngsters

During voluntary service within our centre volunteer will have an opportunity to get valuable experience of working with vulnerable categories of children; get practical knowledge and trainer support in this type of work from experienced and professional staff of the centre ; to explore and learn a new culture and new language while working close to centre staff and inhabitants of the city; to get time-management and self-organization skills when preparing and running activities for children. Personal development of volunteer depends on his\her initiatives and interests also.
