Resumo: The project is located in a city in the north west of Romania, with 150.000 inhabitans, an historic town which was created in 1329. The city is the capital of Maramures County well known for its tradition, culture, folklore, wooden churches and merry cemetery.
It is a city where the modern architecture unites with the old, the historic one, where it`s possible to enjoy festivals, night life, cultural events , and all kind of opportunities because that city is surrounded by mountains , lakes and rivers.
The city is a multiethnical city, we have here beside the majority ( the romanians) – hungarians (15% from the population) germans( 0,35%) , jews ( 0,04%), roma (1,5%), ucranians( 0,25%)
The host project is situated in the city and surrounding areas. There will be opportunity for volunteers to work with different associations and foundations so there will be field visits to some parts of Romania. This would be offer the volunteer the opportunity to travel to other areas.
The main themes of the project are: Roma communities and arts and culture. Volunteers will work with a group of 25 children coming from the roma community in a day center. Through the activities, volunteers will promote active citizenship and volunteering among youth from the local community, as well as the importance of using non-formal education methods for the personal development of the individual. Therefore the 4 volunteers will use various tools and methods in order to promote their project and atract young people in active participation: workshops, role plays, animations, world-caffe, living library, open-space, ice-breakers, street events, etc.
Perfil: The volunteers should be between 18 – 30 years old. We want to keep the gender balance so we will select 2 boys and 2 girls. They should have computer skills in Microsoft Office and using Internet. It would be good to have knowledge in Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, juggling but it is not obligatory. The volunteers should have good communication capabilities, able to work in a team, willing to work with young people from different nationalities and religions. The volunteers need to be responsible, diligent, creative, open minded, ambitious, commited, interested in innovative ways of communication and implementing creative activities. We accept volunteers with few opportunities as well (ex: geographical and/or economical obstacles, cultural differences, social difficulties, broken homes, etc) . Tarefas: - coordinating local volunteers of the hosting organization(teenagers),
- attending weekly meetings with local volunteers and support the staff of the organization in preparing activities towards their personal development
- updating the EVS blog weekly with new stories and experiences - updating hosting organization's website and facebook page
- media: creating posters, flyers for various events of the hosting organization and the EVS project
- creating promo videos for the EVS project and sharing them online
- social inclusion: working with a group of Roma (gipsy) children in a daily center (Caritas) with the supervision of the social workers
- organizing and creating daily summer camps for children
- organizing street events for local community, youth festivals, photo contests
- organizing and promoting non-formal education methods for the local community, such as: open space, world-caffe, living library
- teaching English to chidlren in a primary school
- working with children from the orphenage
- attending trainings provided by the hosting organization
- creating your own workshop, according to your needs and interests (ex: arts&crafts,language workshop)
