Resumo: The hosting organization is situated in the eastern part of Tyrol, in the west of Austria, about 10 Kilometers from the german border. This is a village with about 5.300 inhabitants, and has comprehensive infrastructure: some supermarkets, butcher, bakery, post office, police station, elementary school, secondary modern school, etc. The village is an important business location with companies from various economic sectors.

Leisure attractions in summer are numerous; a lake for swimming, cycle tracks, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor, childrens playing grounds, football grounds, hiking tracks etc. In Winter there´s a bus-connection to a big skiing area (Wilder Kaiser Brixental), tracks for cross-country skiing, a skating area, possibilities for sledging and hiking ... the village also offers many clubs and associations where you can practice different types of leisure acitvities (different types of sports, cultural traditions, photography, fire brigade, choirs, bands, ...)

The children´s home is situated on the outskirts of the village, near the city of Wörgl (about 12.000 inhabitants). There are shopping malls, restaurants, bars, a cinema, an international railway-station (where nearly all international trains stop), a big indoor swimming pool and many cultural events throughout the year.

The volunteer will live in a flat in Wörgl, together with one or two other volunteers, who also stay here to take part in other projects.

Perfil: We are looking for one volunteer from anywhere in Europe, who is open-minded, interested in working with children and teenagers. He/She should be enthusiastic, willing to play an active part in working with the children by being creative (maybe playing, singing, dancing, doing sports or anything else he/she would like). It would be good if he or she is able to speak German or is willing to learn the german language as soon as possible (Communication with the staff members will not be a big problem, but only some of the children are able to speak a few words in english, most of them are only speaking German and a volunteer should be able to communicate with the children).
It woud be good if he or she would be ready to reflect his/her own acting and behaviour, so he/she can learn many things in working with people. Of course he/she should be an honest and trustworthy person and everything he/she learns about the children and their families underlies professional discretion.

We would like to continue hosting a volunteer. So if we get applications we will contact the applicant via email and/or telephone and check if we are able to comply with the expectations of the person and if he/she fits to our team. Applicants with experience in working with children will have an advantage, but it´s not the main criteria for us. We made also good experience with volunteers without any knowledge in paedagogics. Being a volunteer is a good opportunity to gain experience

All volunteers who send us their application will be considered and will receive a questionnaire. The coordination office in Wörgl will receive the applications and forward them on to us. We are making our decisions about the volunteer in the team. When we have made a selection of 3 best candidates, we are going to contact them and ask them more specific questions to figure out who has the biggest motivation to participate.
age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: The volunteer will be involved in the team like a trainee. He/she will work together with the staff members and care for the children.
The working time will be about 30 to 32 hours a week. The working times will mainly be in the afternoon, sometimes also the whole day during the holidays or at weekends. He/she will get a duty rota. Wishes and needs will be considered if possible.

Sometimes we take part in the national projects of our board of trustees. So the volunteer will get the possibility to see other parts of Austria and to get to know other parts of our organization. If the volunteer ist interested, it is also possible to take part in training courses and seminars.

Horário: A typical day during school time looks like this:
06.30 a.m. waking the children
06.45 a.m. getting breakfast
07.15 a.m. the kids leave for school
07.30 a.m. the youngest are taken to playschool
07.50 a.m. housework (cleaning the kitchen, making the beds, clearing up, doing the laundry, ...)
08.00 a.m. colleague “B”arrives and is given a briefing by colleague “A” – all vital information is passed on.
08.45 a.m. colleague “A” leaves after 24 hours on duty). Colleague “B” starts his 24 hour duty - continues the housework, does the shopping, office work, phone calls ...
11.00 a.m. preparing the meal
12.00 p.m. collecting the youngest from Playschool, some of the others arrive from school
12.30 p.m. lunch
13.00 p.m. clearing up in the kitchen

15.00 p.m. leisure activities (playing, going for a walk, sports, doing handycrafts ...)
17.30 p.m. preparing dinner
18.00 p.m. dinner
18.30 p.m. clearing up the kitchen, supervising the children, each doing some small jobs in the house
19.00 p.m. the youngest are taken to shower and bed with a bedtime story, then talking or playing with the others until they also have to go to bed
20.30 p.m. second staff member is leaving
22.30 p.m. the last ones go to bed, - nighttime peace

The volunteer will mainly be involved in leisure activities, but will also assist with homework, accompaning the children doing their daily duties and do some housework and/or gardening. Every second Wednesday morning is the meeting of all staff members. The volunteer should join the meeting at least partly, as here things will be organised for the following week and the children will be discussed and any special needs or actions decided upon. He/she can also take part in our monthly supervision.
It´s intended that the volunteer can also do a project independently (encouraged by the staff members). The type of the project depends to his/her skills and interests, it can be a workshop, a theatre-project, a sports-project ....
