Resumo: The project is located in an old castle. The castle has big gardens, a farm and other premises so it offers variety of free time activities. There is a small room with internet access accommodated in the castle in order to have a place where senior people could meet and communicate, to get education and information about computers, internet. The volunteers are welcome to use the internet too.

The accommodation is arranged in a guest room. Every room has its own social facilities, a kitchen, an electric kettle and a coolroom. Volunteers who aren´t able or just don´t want to cook themselves can eat in our eating room.

There are other free time activities and ergotherapy for the elderly people as well. They include handcrafting, pottery, needlework, knitting, walking and as well work in the garden.

The staff organizes several concerts of classical music during the year. Those take place in the castle or in the garden. The team also cooperates with the Cultural Centrum (KulturnA dum) of MoravskA© Budejovice town. Most of the cultural events are open to the public which helps to connect the residence community with the world outside.

The volunteer will be a part of our team, we want to create pleasant environment for him/her. The staff welcomes volunteers and helps the volunteers to feel like at home. It´s possible thanks to close relations in a small village. It´s easier to get to know each other soon in a small place. Our Czech volunteers give another opportunity to see people outside the residence community and find friends there. As well as the Church community in Trebic for those, they would like to attend church services or meet other young christians. We welcome all kind of people independent from their religious background but to be christian might be advantage as the hosting organisation is a christian organisation. During his/her leisure time activities he/she can participate in different national music and folk national events, taste special Czech, Austrian and Slovak food (all these cultures are in the surroundings), he/she can use the opportunity to go by ship to Vienna or to Bratislava and learn about their historical coherence throught it.

The residence home where the hosting project is run, is located on the main square of a small village. The area is rural with prevailing agriculture. The village is about 70 km from Brno, the second biggest city in the Czech Republic. Due to its size the village is a place that doesn't offer many social opportunities and activities for children and local youth. It´s necessary to commute for work and further education. There is Elementary school for children to 15 years, where children from different villages in the area attend. The school is modern and offers various free time activities. There are also some basic shops. Over 700 hundered inhabitants live in this place of interest. The beginning of this village is dated to the year 1222.Through the centuries many sights raised there. At first we must mention the Baroque castle in which the retirement home is placed. Next, we can see the statues of late Gothic and Baroque: St. Florian, St. Francis, St. Jan NepomuckA? etc.

As this region does not have a lot of heavy industry, it has nice countryside with good and unpoluted nature. It is also culturaly and historicaly rich region. It has 4 places included on the List of UNESCO World Heritage, thus having a prime among all Czech regions. There are as well many castles and protected urban areas (including jewish quarters). Preserved nature alowes many freetime activities too. Connection to other parts of the region is possible due the existing railway networks and main motorway connecting Praha with Brno.

In surroundings some bigger towns like TrebAc, NA?mest nad Oslavou (both about 15 km far) can be accessed by local public transport. There one can find further free time activities (cinemas, theaters, museums, sport centres and different shops).

An important role in the support has the coordinating organisation, there is the hosting organisation´s support based on the individual approach and understanding of the EVS volunteer (coordinator, collegues, local volunteers), mentor (contact, support, meeting), in case of any speciifc need of support (particular activity, project, obstacle, etc.) is the hosting organisation ready to provide appropriate support to the volunteers. There is ensured the get the support for any individual project within his/her EVS, support of reflection and self-assement for the nonformal learning, learning plan and future.

Perfil: Volunteers of any sex, any religious background, any nationality, who are open, with social intelligence and empathy and good relationship with people are going to be hosted. Volunteers can introduce their hobbies, extend the intercultural dimension with their native language, habits and traditions or exchanging experience, bring stimuli to the people they meet.

We do not want the volunteer to have any special abilities/knowledge. He/she should be prepared to work with elderly clients, which is demanding concerning social and emotional intelligence and empathy. All the needed skills will be taught by the staff, the volunteer will always have somebody to contact for advice, support, information.

Generally, we are open to collaborate with any kind of sending organisation. This project is operating through Diaconal Year in the recruitment and selection process, where we meet the volunteer personaly. The European volunteers are chosen according to their curriculum vitae, their motivation letter, the presentation made by the sending organisation and the contact with the volunteer. For a consideration of the application the volunteers are addressed and sit for an personal interview/on the telephone. We proceed to the selection of volunteers considering all the applications.

We are acknowledged that EVS volunteer activities must not substitute any employment, therefore volunteers are involved in more than one activity in the organisation and carry out well-defined tasks following agreement. The volunteers in the projects are guided although there is enough space for their creativity and independence.
Young people (age of 18 - 30) interested in our EVS project and field we work in.

Tarefas: Volunteers will have work time divided between the diversional therapies for seniors (50%), social integration activities with youth and children (30%), activities in the primary schools in MysliboA¸ice, oprhanage in Hrotovice - support of English development and practice, leisure time activities assitance and sport activities (15%) and some care activities (feeding, helping with dressing) (5%). Rest, the 5% is reserved for meetings with staff and supervisor or tutor. Total working time: maximum 7 hours a day, 35 hours a week.
With some of the activities the volunteer has opportunity to decide between doing them in mornings or in afternoons. Of course this is not the case of working with local youth and/or children.
The volunteers are accompanied by therapeutic and pedagogical staff. Together with residents they will eg. prepare gifts from different materials (cloth, sewed fruit, wood) for special celebrations and holidays (St. Nicholas, Christmas gifts, birthdays, namesdays, presents for visitors) - ergotherapy. Another time residents decorate their rooms and common rooms in the castle in according to season or holidays. The volunteers will assist the residents in decorations.
The volunteers can together with the local volunteers (mostly university students) prepare events, trips, celebrations, parties outside the Resident´s Home. This is also the space for volunteer´s own project.

The volunteers can visit a lot of leisure time activities at local school and not only participate but also support them or create the new. They can choose from variety of activities where they participate in leisure time activities of local youth and children (plastic arts, painting, step dance, conversation in his/her mother tongue if it´s his/her desire, football etc.).
