Resumo:
The organization is located in northern Spain, is offering an EVS for two volunteers for a duration of 12 month starting in March 2014.

The town (about 5000 inhabitants) is famous for its green and hilly landscape and numerous vineyards. Its historical center (the Jewish quarter), the castle and the delicious wine invite tourists to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and take a walk in the cobbled streets.

Throughout the year several events and festivals are organized in the town, such as the international theatre festival, the historical festival or the night of the witches’ night that attract many visitors. The volunteers have the possibility to take part in these events.

The town is well connected and it is possible to reach e.g. Ourense (capital of the province of Ourense) in 30 min or Vigo at the coast in 1 hour by bus as well as by train.

The City has provided the organization with a Youth House where volunteers can help. It is an appropriate place for youth with all the needed resources to give information. The organization will continue coordinating its activities with the Culture House, Municipal Tourist Office, local development office and the schools and organizations of the city. Volunteers will also provide support in the activities carried out in the mentioned entities.

The main aim of the organizationis to carry out a policy allowing the active participation of youth in the political, social, economic and cultural development of our town. Our activities include informal talks about opportunities to young people, information visits to local schools, creation of links with European organizations, counseling and support of activities of local youth associations, preparation of participation projects with local youth...

Perfil: - adaptability to a rural environment like the Ribeiro region
- ability to work in a team
- capacity to relate to young people, since our project is based on Youth Policies; volunteers will often be in contact with young people of Ribeiro
- interest in other cultures, which is very important in our case, since Galicia has deeply rooted culture and tradition
- computer skills are appreciated
- conversational level of Spanish or English (and willing to learn Spanish)
- positive attitude to cooperate with us, so that our common work is easier and we manage an EVS under optimal conditions
- age: our preference is for older volunteers (until 30 years old) since they have less opportunities

Tarefas: The tasks of the volunteers will consist in supporting the staff of the organization in: - informing young people about e.g. opportunities abroad (YiA), employment, leisure activities, youth initiatives through leaflets, posters or informal talks - organizing and implementing workshops and weekly courses (language classes, arts and crafts,…) - finding partners for exchanges (Youth in Action) and realizing them (completing the documents, writing applications, finding participants, selecting participants…) - creating posters and leaflets to promote the activities of the organization - keeping the social networks and website up to date - creating videos to document events (e.g. Festival Arteficial) - collaborating in the local festivals (theatre, medieval, music…) We encourage the implementation of own projects and ideas of the volunteers! The volunteers will work 5 hours a day 5 days a week and have 24 days of holiday. They will have free access to the sports center, the pool, the music school and the library.

Furthermore, Spanish classes with an experienced teacher are offered twice a week so that the volunteers can improve their Spanish. The volunteers will live all together in a fully equipped shared flat with balcony, kitchen, living room, two bathrooms and four single rooms, which is within walking distance of the office.
