Resumo: Education through sport and outdoor activities - target goup : 18-60 years old students, adults, youth - A Project environment: Geographical situation : Valence is situated in the Rhône Valley, more exactly in Drôme.This element is important to take into account, because it can explain the social needs of this city. It is a stopping-off place, and of transit because it is on the axis Paris - Lyon - Marseille (it takes 2 hours to go to Paris and Marseille by train). The city is also in the crossroads of the Alps (Grenoble), Ardeche, but also the border countries (Italy and Swiss). Cultural, touristic and sports potential: The tourist and cultural potential of Drôme is important. Valence is situated at the feet of the Vercors Mountains and the sports of mountain are close. (Ski, hiking, climbing). Valence has important sports complex and fields of collective sports, climbing walls etc. Drôme is a famous place of the French Resistance and allows to discover the history of theWWII and Europe through memorials, museums, conferences … Training/ Education: Since several years, Valence has developed the university centre by the implementation of new options in the education post-A Levels (Schools of the social services, the schools of engineers) or propose subjects in BEP / CAP and HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA or HNC unique in the region (jewellery, prosthetics, orthesics, insurance or real-estate agents). Thus, more and more young people come from different departments, regions and countries to study in Valence. And all these persons are in search of an accomodation, to build or rebuild a future. Economic situation: With more than 7000 jobs, the mechanical engineering is a main driving element of the industrial sector. Thanks to its important food-processing industry in Valence, the Drôme Department is one of first producing French departments of fruits. The smokestack industry of jewellery and textile is also very important since generations. These fields of activity employ a great deal of seasonal workers, young temporary workers and in short-term contracts. Report: the duration of the stays of the young people within the Residence Rochecolombe, lasts between 3 and 6 months. Indeed, these young people are in mobility because of their vocational training, their studies , their familial or financial situation. It is also difficult for them to make a commitment or to subscribe to an activity of leisure. Furthermore, some of these residents often come from another department, from another country. Therefore, they feel sometimes isolated, alone and rejected because of their cultural difference. But the collective action is one of the elements of the educational project of the Residence of Young Workers. It allows to rehabilitate " live together ", establishing a social transformation of the individual. It is about investing the collective as the place of development of the social human being. An European voluntary service(SVE) takes all its vocation in this context : The activities that he will manage with the person in charge of the project will aim at facilitating time and places of meetings between residents. I tcould be around leisure activities, moments of relaxation, opening theResidence on the city, the department, the region through its cultural, tourist, human potential
Perfil: profile : 24-30 years old - should have experiences on : Driving, Animatin, organization, camping, outdoor activities, sport and tournaments, international-cultura activities, YiA projects - C Volunteer profiles and recruitment process: We don't have any typical profile and we do not ask for specific skills concerning the recruitment of the volunteers. We are opened to all the propositions. However, to avoid putting a volunteer in too much difficulty with regard to our public, we are attentive in: "The age (+ of 23 years)A minimum of experience in the associative domain or in the management of group. "A good personal and relational balance in order to face the various situations which can appear; "Attentive being to the needs of the others; "know-how to take initiatives. "A certain capacity to stand the break,the distance, the unknown, and the simplicity is also necessary. We receive a great deal of applications all year round. It is difficult to answer to everybody but we try to make it. The choice is difficult. We refer to the criterias indicated above.The person in charge of the project selects several applications. He proposes them in meeting of team. A debate follows and it is going to determine of the chosen application. Then, the project manager answers chosen or non-chosen applications and explains them why they were chosen or not. We call the candidate to verify if he has readed well and understood the project. The volunteer is followed and accompanied by the professionals throughout his voluntary service. His coming never substitutes another post. Further to the selection of an application, we contact the sending organisation which the volunteer has chosen. We are dependent on his choice and we have no "typical" sending organizations with which we'd like to work with. We adapt ourselves.
Tarefas: B Proposed activities for EVS volunteers: The presence of a young European volunteer(SVE) in the residence of young Workers allows to create the link in the community, to facilitate the multi-cultural exchanges there and to support the work of socio-educational team. " The learnings of the volunteer : ÒFrench language with lessons ( 2x3h / week ) and the practice in the everyday life. ÒThe multimedia and IT tool. Acquisition of the knowledges with the social worker to create brochures of communication to promote the activities. ÒMethodology of the animation with social worker: learn to build a project and to animate a group of residents. We wish to structure the time of voluntary service in two parts: -1- From 1st to 4th month : The volunteer sets up different activities in order to create a dynamic in the collective areas and to sensitize the residents with in inter cultural dialogue. The activities proposed: Ò Welcome the new residents (visit of places: Areas of games, living-room, library, garden in summer, collective kitchen, computers,laundry - presentation of different services). Ò Make the places of collective areas alive: games, multimedia. ÒEncourage and accompany the residents in the organisation, preparation and the realization of collective activities such as: meals with specific theme : The volunteer has a role to call out a resident (rather regularly) so that he introduces his region and his culture through a typical dish, but also through a presentation of his origin (photographs, video, music). The decoration of the room is also important (flag and map of the country, music etc …). The cultural parties (cinema - theatre …) Among the cultural program of the city, the volunteer selects a cultural activity in connection with " the inter cultural dialogue " and proposes it to the residents. He can also organize one evening cinema within the foyer on a very precise subject (racism, xenophobia etc.) and proposes a debate. The weekly sports activities: The City of Valence lends us a gymnasium all year round. The volunteer will be able to propose various collective sports: volleyball, football, handball, basketball, badminton etc. Any personal idea will be welcomed in relation to the educational project of the residence. On the other hand the team will be attentive to bring its support and its advices. -2- From 5th in the 9th month : the volunteer sets up an activity on the long term with a team of residents. We choose a sport activity as dominant topic. Indeed, it is a mean of answering the general objectives. Sport is universal, known by everyone. There is no barrier of language, culture, age. It can take a social aspect (Exchanges between persons of different social origins - Place where we can have experiences of groups). As well as a physical aspect (access to the well-being). Sport carries on positive, educational values (team spirit, Fair play, pleasure, knowledge of the body and its potential). We wish through this activity settle a sports challenge with all the other residences in the city. And, we wait for the volunteer to build together the detailed schedule of the animations to take into account the demand of the young people and the wishes of the volunteer. It is very important for us to involve the volunteer in choices to take responsibilities, make him totally an actor of the project, to be an initiator. The social worker will be present to supervise and accompany the volunteer in the implementation
