Resumo: The city is a 97,45 squared km town and it has always enjoyed an international social context, thanks to its important textile industry – which is one of the most important in Europe. The city hosts more than 28.000 people aged between 15 and 29, counting as the 15% of the entire population. During the last few years a great immigration flux has involved the city as well as many other cities in the western world. Today the city counts about 200.000 inhabitants, the 13% of which are foreigners: a quote that enabled the city to be one of most multicultural town at a national level.
Currently, at an economic level, the textile industry has decreased its importance. Therefore a strong need to embrace innovative fields has been raised such as culture, communication, spare-time and touristic services.
In the last few years our organisation has built a co-operation network with the Province, the Municipality of the city, and the other municipalities of the province.
For examples, in collaboration whit the municipalities of Cantagallo, the association organises each year international and national work camps.
