Resumo: The work place for the volunteer is planned in the Institution in the standard room of administrative building, which is situated in the centre of the city. The volunteer will work in the room with other three (3) Institution`s specialists. Two more rooms of the Institution equipped with computers, projectors, where it is possible to organise the activities with young people (thematic meetings, language lessons, celebrations, discussion clubs, etc.), will be at volunteer`s disposal.
This city is the second largest Latvian city. The population of the city is 93 000 people. It is a multicultural city. The Latvian language is used for communication in state institutions and working places, but the Russian language is widely spread in everyday and non-formal situations. So the volunteer will have the opportunity to get acquainted not only with the Latvian language and culture, but also with the Russian language and culture.
The volunteer`s working place is situated in the historical centre of the city, which is not big. The city University, the theatre, the Olympic Centre and other cultural and educational institutions are situated there. There is a big historical and tourism object in the city Fortress. In the region there are a lot of nice objects of nature, such as lakes, natural parks, forests, etc. There is a good public transport connection with the capital city Riga (buses, trains) .
The volunteer`s accommodation is planned in the hostel in the city centre (The city State Gymnasium`s hostel). This hostel is a safe place with definite inner regulations. It is under supervision of the State Gymnasium`s staff.
Some of the activities of the volunteer may be organised in the city, in other educational establishments. The volunteer may participate in different activities organised by different institutions. The volunteer`s target group is mainly young people of secondary school level (16-19-year old). Assistance work includes activities with adults who are connected with education (pedagogues, hosting institutions administration representatives).
The volunteer can be offered free lessons in painting, drawing, design which can be organised during his/her free time. These lessons can be organised in Design and Art Secondary School (professional education school). The volunteer will also have the opportunity to visit different sport classes, trainings, for example, swimming in the swimming pool, basketball trainings, etc. The Institution`s staff (colleagues) will help to find other different activities in the city according to the volunteer`s choice, will help to agree on their attendance. There will be the possibility to attend different activities in the Institution`s partner organisations (The city University, different NGOs, theatre, Art Centre, Museum, library, the association structural units, etc.). The volunteer will have the possibility to get acquainted with local authorities work attending everydays` events and activities of the association.

Perfil: The Institution requirements for the volunteer:
good English language skills, person of the full legal age (18+), with the wish to work with people (good communicative skills), with the interest in education field, culture and art. The priority will be given to a young person who has got an experience in activities` organisation.
In the selection process there will not be any discriminating requirements (age, sex, etc.)
Age: 18 until 30 years old.

Tarefas: The volunteer will complete different tasks in the Institution: work with young people, help in project management, different activities connected with education and culture organisation. The volunteer will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the system of education in Latvia from pre-school to secondary and professional school levels. It means the education from a 1,5-year old child to a 21-year old young person. The volunteer will help to organise activities, holidays celebrations, discussion clubs in the Institution or educational establishments, will popularise EVS in the city, will bring his/her own mentality`s elements and culture. We also plan to introduce the language club work (the volunteer will introduce his/her native language with the help of non-formal education methods). The volunteer will help to organise the work of planned international projects in different institutions (such as institutions` guests receiving, activities, seminars). The volunteer will assist everyday work and activities organisation of the Institution`s project manager, adult education methodologist and career consultant.
The specific task example: the volunteer prepares school parliament representatives (students) for the seminar about the possibilities of the programme `Youth in Action`. It includes volunteer`s meetings with students before the seminar for materials and presentation preparation, with NGOs volunteers (who work in the city), volunteer`s presentation of his/her own experience preparation. In the same way the volunteer organises other activities such as different hobbies` workshops, discussion clubs, and other activities for schools` students.
The Institution staff take into consideration the volunteer`s interests, character features and offers him/her the work or activities which he/she can do according to his/her abilities and wishes. The volunteer becomes acquainted with multinational city`s peculiarities, with languages (Latvian, Russian, Polish), with multi-confessional spectrum ( Catholic, Lutheran, Russian Orthodox, Russian Old believers`, Jewish churches, etc.), local cultural values.
