Resumo: The city is a place where the association is located - is a town with a population of 186,000 tha is situated in the sothern part of Poland called Upper Silesia - the most industrialized region in Poland inhabited by 2.8 million people in general. Because of its post-industrial past the city is struggling with many social problems such as unemployment, poverty, questioning identity. In the opinion of many young people is a dark city, ugly and sad place with lack of prospects. Unwise decisions of local politicians, lack of financial investment in education and culture, social services, parks and recreation creates an urgent need to indicate children and young people new opportunities for growth. Despite its industriality the city is a place that can be very inspiring. The city cultural venues include: Silesian Opera, Silesian Dance Theatre (one of the best dance schools in Poland)Cultural Centre, pubs, many galleries and of course the association.
The city is situated close to Katowice - the capital, the heart of the region - Silesian Conglomeration . Katowice is an important academic centre. This city as well as the whole of Upper Silesia offers numerous cutural attractions like: museums, cinemas (arthouses and multiplexes), galleries, theatres and great pubs.
The city is connected with Katowice by public transport that is developed very well (buses, trams, trains). There is an international airport "Pyrzowice" located about 25 km from the city.
The association is located on the main market square in the city.
The association is a very lively place where people can see exhibitions, listen to a concert, buy a book, take part in workshops. Our team consists of young and creative people.

Perfil: The nature of the activities in the gallery required a volunteer to be mature enough to be in the role of a leader of activities/ workshops dedicated to children and youngsters. It would be great if a volunteer had some experience in the social work, especially with youth; it would be easier for a volunteer to know how to deal with youngsters and how to lead the activities for them.
Because of a permanent contact with visitors, artists, workshop participants a volunteer should be communicative and open minded. Because of a consistent part of the activities is built up according to the interests and hobbies of
a volunteer (working on art projects and workshops) he/s he should have a spirit of initiative, be creative. Some art skills would be very useful in this project.
The information about EVS project will be send to the Polish NA and eventually set on the database of the active project and in other internet bases.
The selection process: a volunteer will answer some questions about the thematic of the project, interests and hobby, to try to evaluate his/her further involvement. We expect as well a recommendation from the sending partner which has more possibility to motivate their volunteer and discuss his/her involvement. We will talk with potential volunteers by Skype to meet and discuss some idea. Finally the association workers and person responasable for EVS from coordinating organization (Polskie Forum Edukacji Europejskiej) will meet to decide who will be the volunteer among those interviewed through Skype.
Age: 18 until 30 years old.

Tarefas: The main aim of the project is to engage volunteers in socio-cultural tasks in the association. The activities in which they will take part will depend on their interests. During their stay volunteers will have a possibility to participate and work in many activities, including having English lessons with children and teenagers, assisting in art classes of K4K (the association For Kids – meetings for 16 up to 25 years old people, where the young people will have an opportunity to talk about important contemporary topics), preparation of the materials for these worskhops, cooperation with Polish and international artists and The association residents, promotion of the association projects, EVS activities and other international programmes. Art classes will take place not only in the Gallery space but in different unconventional places as well (parks, playgrounds, swimming pools, stadiums, etc.). Moreover volunteers will take part in art projects organized by the association team: contemporary art exhibitions, special events - concerts, meetings with artists, film screenings, alternative trips around Silesia (post-industrial corners of the area) etc. Thanks to all these tasks they will get the knowledge about functioning an "industry" art in Poland.
Volunteers will have also the opportunity for creating an alternative guidebook on Silesia region.
The activities of volunteers have been created concerning the most important issues: to show children and young people the new possibilities of development, to make them more self-coni¬dent, to allow them to do not be afraid of using the foreign language and to create interesting and important alternative in learning.
Our volunteers will be working mostly with young people aged 6 to 14, mainly from poor and dysfunctional families, who are standing in front of first important and conscious decisions. They were often brought up in the sense of rejection, solitude. Moreover volunteers will cooperate with polish and foreign artists.
