Resumo: The association is a community of people with and without developmental disability where all members live, work and spend their free time together in small family structures. At the moment there are three houses functioning, each one accommodating a "family". Every house is independent but all follow the methods and principles that the Austrian Dr. Karl Konig put into practice when he founded the first Camphill community.
The volunteers will help with the daily tasks in the village: working together with people with special needs in ecological gardening, workshops and household.
They will be able to learn some gardening as well as getting experience in making jewels, working in our pottery workshop and woodwork in our carpentry. And of course, there is always time for fun activities such as swimming (when the weather allows it), excursions, walks, music, games ...
Estia Agios Nilolaos is situated next to the sea and not far from Mt. Parnassos. There are buses running regularly to the towns of Itea and Amfissa (the province capital).
Since the Estia Agios was established we have had young German conscience objectors come to live and work with us. We are looking forward to host volunteers from other countries so that we can meet each other, work together and learn from each other's culture. After a year with us they will speak fluent Greek and will take with them an unforgettable living experience and skills that will be useful in their life.
Working with people with special needs enables young people to develop new social abilities.
The use of any kind of drugs is strictly forbidden and the consumption of alcohol is strongly discouraged.
We will offer our volunteers training and support throughout the duration of the project.
At their arrival we will oragnise different workshops related to the different areas they will work on. They will get an orientation on disability, a first aid training, health issues (hygiene) and they will be able to choose what skills they would like to learn according to their choice or workstation. They will learn skills related to pottery, woodwork, jewel making and gardening.
They will also get Greek language lessons throughout their year.
It is our hope that volunteers become active members of our community as well as the local community.
EVS volunteers will bring fresh air into our community. They will be a great addition to our daily life.
On one hand they will bring a taste of Europe to the community. The presence of international volunteers will be a great way for the members of the community to get in touch and learn about the different countries in Europe and their cultures. This will also benefit the volunteers themselves since they will experience sharing life with people from different countries.
On the other hand they will also offer our co-workers a genuine relationship that houseparents and/or staff can not fulfil. They will play the role of brothers and sisters in the houses filling them with energy and good will.

We will ask candidates to send us their CV and a motivation letter explaining why they are interested in our project. We will contact them and send them more detailed information about the projecT. We want to be sure that the volunteers who will come are highly motivated by the nature of the project and that they fully understand it. We expect volunteers to stay for the whole duration of the project.
Related studies or experience are not demanded but are welcome.
We expect that Sending Organisations have personal contact with the candidate volunteers. It is important that volunteers get good orientation from the beginning to make sure that they understand the kind of project they want to be involved in.
