Resumo: Geographical environment
Lithuania is the largest of the Baltic states, with an area of 65,200 sq km and 99 km of coastline on the Baltic Sea between Latvia to the north and Russia's Kaliningrad outpost to the south. Other borders are with Belarus and Poland, which joins the country to the rest of the European Union.
The country is largely flat; the highest point being less than 300 meters above sea level, but it has fertile soil with many rivers and is well forested. The capital is Vilnius, and it has the important Baltic port of Klaipeda.

The Coordinating Organization is located in the town. The town is the fifth largest city in Lithuania with a population of over 100,000. The town is situated in the middle of Lithuania; it is halfway between two Baltic capitals.

Social environment
The population in Lithuania was 3.54m in July 2010, divided approximately as to: Lithuanian 84%, Polish 6%, Russian 7%, and other 3%. Lithuanian is the official language, and 80% of the populations are Roman Catholics.

The town is home to many theatres: the Drama Theatre, Music Theatre, Children's Theatre, Masks' Theatre, Puppets' Wagon Theatre and Theatre of Poetry. The city boasts a prosperous musical life thanks to the Chamber Orchestra, Brass Orchestra, Women's Choir, Jazz Singers Band, and the Folk Dance Groups. The Museum of Ethnography displays a historical review of the town.

Artists display their work at the Art Gallery, Photography and Galerija XX. The town is a member of the Union of Baltic Cities. Sports are an important part of life in the town, whether you are a supporter, a participant, or just like to keep fit. Basketball, football, handball, cycling, boxing, swimming and other sports are represented at different levels.

Economical environment
Lithuania gained membership in the World Trade Organization and joined the EU in May 2004. Lithuania is part of the EU's Schengen Area, meaning that there is visa-free movement within Schengen of nationals of all those EU Member States belonging to the area. Lithuanian residence permits are issued to nationals of other Schengen countries subject to some conditions, including availability of sickness insurance, “adequate means of subsistence”, and a place to stay. Temporary residence permits and entry visas for non-EU residents are still available but are more costly following the imposition of Schengen border controls. For tax purposes, residency applies to anyone whose permanent place of residence or whose centre of personal and economic interests is in Lithuania, or who spends more than 183 days in Lithuania during a year, or more than 280 days over two years.

The currency is the Litas (LTL), which is pegged to the Euro at a rate of 3.4528 to 1. Monetary policy is directed towards a conversion to the Euro, which is expected to happen in or after 2013.
