Resumo: It’s a minor care day centre hosting minors (6-13 years old), usually monitored by the social services. They all have a disadvantaged background, or are considered at risk of social exclusion for different reasons (family, discomfort, economical, behavioural and relational difficulties). Afternoon activities are run every day from Monday to Friday, and include: homework support, workshops, sports, excursions.

During the summer (July) both centres turn into summer city camps, for children. They close 3 weeks in August and volunteers are asked to plan their vacation in that period.

Perfil: Candidates should: - Be flexible, extroverted and smart - Be interested and sensitive towards educational and social issues. - Have good familiarity with leisure time activities for with children and youngsters - Be open to work in team and able to command respect - Have previously experienced voluntary activities (better if in the field of non formal education). We will also take into account the professionalism and accessibility shown by the sending organisation on the basis of the contextual presentation of volunteers or of past collaborations, as well as the support and training they ensure before departure to them.

age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: his/her role consists in supporting the educators at the Day Centre, helping them in the following activities: 1) Integration in the local community: excursions, swimming pool, and other sport activities 2) Cultural support: homework help and guidance 3) Autonomies development: lunch, handicraft workshops, group dynamics, co-operative games, etc. During the morning he/she will prepare materials for activities.
