Resumo: The hosting organization is a well know environmental organization in Latvia with a mission to create social movement that not only emotionally supports environment friendly ideas but also puts them in practice and lives them out through activities that are beneficial for environment and humans. The organisation also works towards promoting wide everyday use of environment- and human-friendly materials and technologies.

Organisation works to inform and educate people on environmental issues, as well as to involve them and encourage to change their everyday habits to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Our main activities and projects include social campaigns (“Latvia – the greenest country in the world” and “10/10/10 – Global Work Party”), youth non-formal education activities, educational activities (movie nights, discussions) and cooperate with partners to develop and promote sustainability guidelines for their offices and events. We have several ongoing cooperation projects with other NGO’s and public institutions.
The organization has good presence in media, both in traditional media (magazines, news portals), and social media: profiles on Facebook (profile in English), Twitter (information in Latvian) and Youtube, as well as local social.

The hosting organization is established in 2007. At the moment there are 5 people working in the office, organisation has a network of 60 local volunteers and supporters.

Organization is collaborating with NGO, local authorities and municipalities of Latvia. The organization has Organisation is an associate member of Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, partner of the DG for Communication of the European Paraliament and partner of the European Commission in the Climate Campaign “The World you like, with a climate you like” and has good collaboration with Yale University an 350.org.

Perfil: -passionate about environment al issues, creative activities
and campaigns;
-ready to organize different creative events and to inform and educate people on environmental issues
-age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: POSSIBLE TASKS OF THE VOLUNTEER:
-EVENTS/WORKSHOPS. Organize thematic events/workshops (run and/or form the groups who could help) in the the Environmental education and information center, for example creative workshops, movie nights, meetings with volunteers, promotional events, info evening with guest speakers etc..

-PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES. Support the projects take part in the activities – depending on skills and interests, experience and learning objectives.

-WORK ON WEBPAGE. Maintain the English version of the the organization: webpage.

-COOPERATION WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS. Build partnerships and make contacts for future projects.

-OFFICE WORK as responding e-mails,copying, updating databases, preparing documents, working with social media, collaborate with local and European organizations, participate in planning meetings, create ideas for activities etc.

-COMMUNICATION WORK. Document the events and activities in photo and video as well as in social networks (twitter, facebook, blog).

-CONTRIBUTE to the development of the Environmental education and information center with ideas, contacts, practical support, the organization: sovenier “shop”.

-INFORMATIONAL MATERIALS(GRAPHICS DESIGN). Creating different materials to promote the sustainable living and environment related topics.

-LANGUAGE AND CULTURE WORKSHOPS for local people.

-INFORMATIONAL CAMPAIGNS about the organization: activities OWN INITIATIVES... :)
