Resumo: The organization is situated in the eastern part. The town have 570000 inhabitants and is a former centre for cole-mining and steel industry, has changed to a centre of trade, service and industrial culture during the last years.
The area provide a broad cultural, sportive and leisure educational offer. You can as easily reach the city by public transport as by car.
Perfil: We are looking for a female volunteer who should at least be able to communicate in basic german. Due to law regulations we can only accept volunteers of full age.
The individual circumstances of our young mothers do not allow to open the project for male applicants. The young mothers have sometimes been physically and sexually been maltreated. Besides this the volunteer will be confrontrated with very special female problems as hygiene, pregnancy, etc.
The volunteer should enjoy working with little children and babies and accept changing working hours (max. 38 hours a week incl. language course) between 08.00 am and ca. 10.00 pm (rarely on weekends).
To keep a distance between the partially very young mothers the volunteer should be about 20 years or older.
Creativity in sports or fine art activities won't be a disadvantage.
Tarefas: The volunteers should try to develop additional, creative leisure time activities for the young mothers and their little babies, according to her/his personal abilities and experiences.
At the same time the volunteers have the chance to get to know a new cultural background to widen their personal knowledge and to intensify their german abilities (language course in a language school).
The volunteer in the town will be accomodated in a 2 room appartemt with a sanitary unit about 2 km footwalk outside the center in the town. She can decide herselve whether she wants to prepare the meals herselve or whether she will eat in the refectory of the CJD training center.
The volunteer should support the staff members in caring for the little children/babies while the mothers are at work or at school. Possible tasks could be:
- support in hygienical care for the babies
- feeding and playing with the children
- leisure activities according to the children's age (like baby swimming)
- creative support in decorating the individual rooms of the young mothers and children, playing areas or social group rooms
