Resumo: The hosting organization is located in Eastern Ukraine. Being a one of the biggest cities of Ukraine, the city is also the industrial heart of the country. Our city is young, but, of course, is not that young as the volunteers we invite to visit us. The city was founded in 1869 by the Welsh businessman John Hughes who constructed the fist steel plant and coal mines in this territory. Since that time, the city evolved into a huge industrial centre with over 20 coal mining companies and several metal enterprises. At the same time, there is an active cultural and social life. It is a home for 3 professional and several amateur theatres. There are many cultural facilities in the city such as philharmonic, circus, 3D planetarium, museums, houses of culture and sports and many parks. This is a very green city.
Those who like dolphins will be impressed by Dolphinarium. Besides, soon new Aqua Park will open its door for everyone. We even have our own Broadway – informal name of Pushkina boulevard. This is a city of students. There are about 40 higher and vocational educational facilities. For dinner, one can choose from about 150 restaurants and cafes. The city currently has a population of about 1 million citizens. Its face is really multinational (Ukrainians, Russians, Belarusians, Greeks, Jews, Tatars, Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Georgians, etc). We are proud of our football team Shakhtar, UEFA Cup winner, and our Olympic champions; one of them, Sergey Bubka (pole vaulting), is an athlete who broke the world record for men pole vaulting 35 (!!) times. One will be fascinated by the night view of Donbass Arena stadium. Our office is located in the centre of the city; therefore, it is very easy for volunteer to get to the work place. We will provide well-equipped work place in the office with a free access to Wi-Fi, printer, scanner; so, volunteer will be able to use own laptop (or office PC if needed). Working hours of the office are from 9:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Friday. If an event takes place at weekend, volunteer will get additional day-off during a week. We plan to involve volunteers 5-6 hours in a day, including 2-3 hours of work in our office and 3 hours in the offices and venues of our partners, schools and orphanages. Volunteers working hours will depend on type of activity and project (some of the schools have classes in the morning, other – at the evening), but no more than 5-6 hours per day. In the office, volunteers will work together with members of our organization (Project Managers, local volunteers); in schools and orphanages volunteers will work with teachers, coaches, psychologists, local volunteers.

We would like to host young people, regardless of gender or ethnicity, enthusiastic and inspired by desire to develop themselves in different areas thought volunteering, who are fascinated by inter-cultural communication and dialogues with Ukrainians, who want to share their experience and to get new skills and positive expressions. We will share the information about EVS on our web-site and our pages on social networks, and also through special web-resources for EVS volunteers, students, NGOs and networking; therefore, everyone will have equal accessibility and a chance to participate. Recruitment process will be based on volunteers applications with equal rights for each of the applicant (primarily selection) and Skype interview with appropriate candidates (final selection). EVS coordinator, Project Manager and mentor will hold recruitment process with collaboration with Sending Organization. We would like to cooperate with Sending Organizations from all around Europe which operate in such areas as art and culture, European awareness, education, non-formal education or provide education through sport and outdoor activities, diversify youth leisure, including youth with fewer opportunities and disabled people.
Besides, we are ready to cooperate with organizations which work in such fields as anti-discrimination, urban/rural development, youth policies, media and communications/ youth information, environment, animal welfare, because we work in these fields too.
Tarefas: The volunteer we would like to host is a young enthusiast, inspired by desire to develop oneself in different areas through volunteering, who is fascinated by inter-cultural communication and dialogues with Ukrainians, who want to share his/her experience and to get new skills and positive expressions.
Tasks of volunteers consist of promotion of intercultural dialogue among Ukrainian youth through conducting creative workshops, speaking classes, cinema classes for children, including those with fewer opportunities (economical, social and educational obstacles) and disabled youth, to make short videos about various places of the city and post it in a blog. Those videos will be compiled into Alternative Art Guide 2.0 which will be continuation of Alternative Art Guide project of Centre of arts.
Volunteers will be able to study Russian or Ukrainian languages, to develop their communicative and organisational skills. Since the volunteers will help prepare various projects and programs of the meetings, it will be a good basement to improve their experience in project management.
