Resumo: As mentioned earlier, the strength and potential of our foundation constitute the people who founded it and who cooperate with it. Our group of collaborators continues to grow. Among the people running the foundation are former coordinators and participants in EVS program. In our team we also have psychologists and educators (both non-formal and formal teachers from primary and secondary school). There are also people who every day deal with the writing and settlement of EU applications. We all have an experience in working with young people, some of us many years, as teachers and organizers or team-leaders, caregivers youth exchanges, scout camps and other forms of organized youth and children's recreation. We also have a long-standing involvement in the local life of our community and we are members of other associations and organizations.
Group young local volunteers - Around our Foundation we still gather young people, students and local high schoo pupils whose linguistic and multicultural skills and experience are enough that they could be good "support-group", some of them even maybe mentors or simply colleagues with similar problems and interests for our future volunteers.
About regular activity:
We want to intensify our work with EVS volunteers, because after completing a series of consultations with other organizations, we conclude that the district Milicz area, in particular, cities and municipalities Milicz are many organizations which, with proper coordination, could be great places for volunteers and the local community would benefit from the presence of many months in our city, people from different cultural and linguistic background. We want to be a reliable and responsible intermediary between NGO’s and public entities that have the potential but have no experience with EVS program.
It does not mean that we want to limit our role to be coordinator and assistants for others institutions and organizations. After 2 years of activity we also have our own potential and our target group of mostly youth from Europe and around.
During the year, we were able to largely professionalize the Foundation's activities and facilities provide the infrastructure and substantial, sufficient, in our view, to apply again for the status of the host organization. The changes we are talking about are as follows:
1th Foundation for several months has an office where every day at a fixed time, Monday to Friday, and frequently at weekends, there is at least one person from our foundation. In the office is a place and a workplace for two more people (desks, computers, internet access)
2th We have a formal agreement with the municipality Milicz, under which the municipality offers us room to the year 2016. (If you do not change the profile of the Foundation activities and will continue to be active, the contract will be automatically extended for subsequent years).
3rd Our head office is located in the Local Activity Center, in the heart of Milicz. Building Centre is a place where many NGOs from the district Milicz have offices. Inside the building there is also a conference room to which we have unlimited access. This gives us additional capabilities: our EVS volunteers can easily engage in more interesting activities of other organizations, or to pursue their own ideas activating the local community and developing local NGO'osy.
4th From September 2012 officially, we are also local Eurodesk Milicz point (point of agreement with the county in KroAnice).
5th In cooperation with the Association of WrocAaw our Raft Foundation also coordinates the district Milicki Voluntary Information Point. In this project, we promote the idea of volunteering at the local level. Therefore, each EVS volunteer who will be working in our office, will become automatically the best recommendation for young people from Milicz who often visit our office, confirming the recommendation that volunteering makes sense.
6th From June 2012 coordinating the project with three EVS volunteers in our city and three other host organizations, and in December we start working with the next four person group of new volunteers who will go to the same host organization.
7th Previous experience with EVS in Milicz satisfied us with the conviction that we are able to responsibly and reliably serve as the host organization and the people who hit us on EVS can pursue in cooperation with us interesting projects.
Our target group make mostly the local community, in particular youth and seniors, but also youth from all the Europe and around.
Perfil:
Our organization has trusted foreign partners who work with the program long EVS. We want to work with them, using their experience and good practice. Therefore, information about the project will be first sent to the partners, which we know and trust. In addition, info about the project will be posted on various portals and databases focusing such projects so that information about the project has reached as many as possible. Despite, however, that we appreciate the collaboration with trusted partners, we are open to new partnerships.
Selection of volunteers will be the result of three stages of recruitment:
1) analysis of motivation letters and CV's,
2) call conversation or video conference (Skype)
3) The tasks to be performed, to check the viewing of their motivation in some unconventional way (depending on the type of project - various)
All that we can be confident that future volunteers are not chosen by chance.
During the recruitment we will try to look through as much application as possible and to choose the volunteers according the EVS profiles we have defined. As a hosting organization and coordinating organization we will be cooperate with sending organizations in the selection process and selection of candidates, because usually they have more specific knowledge about candidates from their countries than we can gather during relatively short recruitment process . However, final decision will be belong to us.
Some features in common that we would like to see in each of our volunteers, and that make it well find them in the community of a small town surrounded by woods and ponds: The volunteer should be interested in animating free time of young but also older people and involving them in public and social life as well as sharing values stated above. They should be able to prepare (with our help and assistance) some new events for local community. He/she needs to be flexible and to certain extend independence, should be a creative, open-minded person. Ease of formulating thoughts in writing and speaking English. Always better if volunteers have at least some sense of humor and distance to themselves. Last but not least: desire to spend their EVS closer nature than the big city.
idade entre os 18 e os 30 anos
Tarefas:
Each volunteer will receive from us the same support and opportunities for development: For the first week after arrival will be familiar with the topography of the city and the surrounding area, all persons connected with the foundation and host organizations in our city, will take part in meetings of integration with the other volunteers who will meet in building a sense of community tours ( kayaking or hiking tours). Volunteers get possibility to learn the Polish language. The lessons will hold by professional Polish teacher for foreign.
The volunteer will have the possibility to take part in international and local trainings concerning youth work. Volunteers will be never left alone with this project, members of organizations and local Polish volunteers will be working together to obtain the goal. Under the supervision of a mentor, coordinator and staff selected host organizations, the volunteer will be systematically implemented in the work of our organization. Working week will not exceed 30 hours per week. The precise schemes will be planed together with the volunteers at the beginning of the project. Sometimes weekend work can be expected according to the specific needs of the project and organization. All state holidays means free time also for volunteers.
Volunteers will be involved in following activities:
- Activation of local community – depending upon specific volunteers skills and fields of interest, he or she will prepare some events (exhibition, poetry evening)/trainings/ lessons/ performance in our local conference hall, in a building of Local NGO Centre.
- Cooperation and activation other NGO organizations in our community - our next-door neighbours are many local associations and foundations of different field of activities (for example University for elder people, association of combatants, association for orphans, scouts and so on). Most of them do not have international and multicultural experiences but in the same time most of their members are very eager to have one. Contact with our volunteers can be for them great opportunity for development into international level of activity.
- Promoting culture of the origin country of the volunteer (thematic evenings, workshops, exhibitions of photos, paints, others form of art);
- own language animations for youth: like language workshops, regular help in language learning to individuals and language and cultural weekend trips.
- help in preparation and implementation of workshops about migrations, intercultural dialog, European identity and other similar topic;
- being in touch with our foreign partners dealing with similar issues around the world.
- publishing a material prepared by them on our websites and Facebook profile
- prepare articles, photo and video materials about our activities for local media. (newspaper and regional TV)
These and other volunteer activities in the local community, will have a huge impact on the development of his awareness of the intercultural dimension. The presence of volunteers will create, for the first time in the life of many members of the community, the opportunity to participate in the processes of intercultural learning. Certainly their appearance in the community will result in mutual inspiration, will be taught to appreciate and accept diversity occurring among residents of Europe. Contacts and discussions with volunteers extending the horizons of young people in Milicz. They realize that the world does not stop at county Milicz. It proves that even without having a large financial background, you can do useful things and develop not only in the immediate vicinity. Direct contacts between volunteers and local young people teach them the attitudes of active, curious people who are open to the world. Our strategic goal is to change the attitudes of young people from the small town of passive and demanding to the active and full of self-confidence.
Coordination and planning is essential in EVS. All key information about service volunteer will receive before arriving to the project. Volunteers will have enough time to rethink their project and get used to volunteer’s subject-matter. Little by little they will be introduced to the project, and responsibilities will be entrusted to them depending on the level of their involvement into volunteer’s service. Regular timetables gives safe frames, essential harmony and stabilisation in the project; it makes efficient monitor of volunteer’s service easier for coordinators of volunteer’s service. Thanks to weekly evaluation, coordinator will be able to deal with likely problems and plan further actions. Volunteers will be asked to introduce their own ideas and social action initiatives. Ideas going to be put into practice after careful analysis. The key aspect of the project is the volunteer’s learning process. This process depends on personal preferences and abilities.
Each person coming for EVS is individual, has specific character, personality and predispositions. Every kind of EVS activities: from the simplest to the most complicated: preparing meals, managing own budget, live in international environmental,
communication in foreign language, going to planning and to realize into practice ideas about leading own workshops. Each person will learn in their own time. Volunteers will learn in three ways:
a) Learning one from another
b) Learning-by-doing and on their own mistakes,
c) Learning based on clues given by experienced coordinators, couches and mentors
Three possible ways of learning is consistent with a three steps rule„Tell me, and I will
forget, show me, and I will remember, involve me and I will understand‗.
We believe that the added value of this construction of project is to create a local environment group of volunteers that makes the time spent on volunteering will be interesting for all of them. Is much harder to bear 9 or 12 months in the new environment, if not around the people in a similar situation.
