Resumo: Brăila is a city in Muntenia, eastern Romania, a port on the Danube and the capital of Brăila County, in the close vicinity of Galaţi. According to the 2002 Romanian census there were 216,292 people living within the city of Brăila, making it the 10th most populous city in Romania.

The period which followed from the XIX century has been a flourishing one for the city, which has known many changes and achievements: pavement and lamps on the streets, pharmacies, meteorological station, military hospital, acquiring the statute of porto-franco city, in 1836, the Belvedere Park, the establishment of some printing houses, of a bank , of barraks, and of a theatre, the opening of a girls’ school, of a gymnasium school and the building of the docks, of the railways, and of various factories. In 1888 the reinforced concrete has been used for the first time here. In the first year of the new century the tram and the bulb have been introduced into daily life. The learning system, the culture, and the bank system know a strong development, sustained by the flourishing commerce. After the occupation from the first world war, in 1927 there is made the foundation of the Agriculture Palace, and three years later the population of the settlement got to 68310 inhabitants. During this period the city, in Europe is established the price of the cereals, at the agricultural exchange.

The tourists who get to this municipality, the administrative residence of the county, can visit numerous cultural places: The Etnography Museum, the Collections House, The History Museum – one of the biggest from the whole country, the Maria Filotti theatre, Saints Archangels Church, Greek Church, The Memorial House, the Memorial House Perpessicius. In the market Saint Archangel, from the old centre, it has been, since 1906, the statuary group, built by a famous sculptor – on celebrating 1800 years from the conquest of Dacia, on the west side of the market being situated since 1909 the Clock, another special landmark.

Are many points of touristic interest. At only 5 km distance to the city on the shore of the lake with the same name, there is the balneoclimaterical resort Salt Lake, a lake situated at 16 m over the level of the sea and surrounded by an area of 70 ha of forest which diminish the steppe climate, this way turning the resort into a pleasant place for rest. The lake, with a high salinity, is an old Danube course, which is blocked now. The bottom of the lake is covered by a therapeutic sapropelic shore.

The therapeutic value of the water and of the shore from the resort Lake has been known for a long time by the inhabitants of this region, but, lately, many tourists come here for treatment. Besides these places, the Danube river is the touristic point of attraction of the county, the animals and the plants being tied to the hydrographic network which confer a special note to the tourism, offering also the possibility of haunting and fishing.

The touristic offer of this county consists also in cruises over the Danube, with accomodation and special programmes for tourists (fishing, haunting, etc) to the Little Island – special zoological and botanical reservation.

From the commercial point of view, The town is well developed, there existing various supermarkets and hypermarkets like: European Retail Park.

We consider that there will not be any problem for the adaptation of the volunteers to our city. They will be hosted inside the city, in apartments, studios or houses and they will have all the necessary utilities for a decent way of life.

Perfil: The profile of the volunteer – teenager willing to learn new things and to face the multiculturality. Having the ability to work in team, able to take and to end his responsabilities in the according time, sociable, communicative, active, optimist and eager to turn his abilities into competences.

The selection of the volunteers will be made according to the evaluation of the needs for volunteers inside the association ( project) and this after a very good clarification of the roles that the volunteers wil have inside the project and after making a volunteer profile by the team project depending on the data found in the motivation letter and in the CV. This selection will help us forward to offer and to give in the same time, a necessary thing for the good fulffilment of the suggested activities in the favour of all the beneficiaries.
Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: General Objective - Increasing the local community integration and life skills development for 15 children and youngsters and their families from geographically, economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds, with the support of EVS volunteers.

Specific Objectives: Objective I - Raising the level of information and awareness young people from two rural communities and the Municipality, about the need for developing life abilities for children and youth with the involvement of EVS volunteers.

Objective II - Increasing the capacity of organizations and institutions in the two rural communities and the Municipality for providing specific services to develop life abilities for the 15 beneficiaries, children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Objective III - Developing independent living skills, self-knowledge, personal development and social skills for 15 children and young people from disadvantaged groups geographically, socially and economically villages.
