Resumo: The project will take place in the city, Macedonia and will include local young people.
The city itself is an urban area which has contemporary infrastructure and institutions and it’s located in the geographical centre of the country. It is well connected with the other bigger cities in Macedonia and abroad and it’s the third biggest city in the country- with around 80000 inhabitants and at around 130 km. from the capital Skopje.
The city is one of the well- known historical places in Macedonia, with landmarks dating from the ancient and medieval ages.
Over the years, the city was developed on different historic influences- ancient time and Kingdom of Macedon’s, medieval Byzantine, Serbian and Ottoman kingdoms’ and also the modern, 20th century influences- anti- fascist movement and communist period, combined with modern architecture.
The city is a place with unique monuments, vast cultural heritage and excellent cuisine.
It’s a nice and safe place for young people to live in and it’s known for the local mentality of socialising and hospitality towards foreigners and also for the cultural events that are happening annually, like the National theatre festival Vojdan Chernodrinski, one of the national carnivals- Prochka, art exhibitions, sport events, music festivals for children’s and folk music, live concerts etc. The city is known for the diverse nightlife and beautiful surrounding nature- mountains and forests for hiking and also an artificial lake.
The city offers non-expensive way of living, which is an advantage to a EVS volunteer. The city and the Old Bazaar offer vast number of shops.
The chosen volunteers will be accommodated in a specially rented flat in one of the residential areas of the city, close to the office and to the city centre and will be provided with individual rooms common living room, kitchen and bathroom.
This way they’ll have an opportunity to share time together and to get to know each other, while having their own privacy at the same time.
The volunteers will be transferred the food- and pocket money on their accounts at the beginning of every month. We as an organisation will make the effort the volunteers to have a cosy, home- like atmosphere.
The volunteers will work in the organisation’s offices, on a well- known location in the city centre, contemporary furnished and with excellent working atmosphere and working conditions.
However, one of the problems regarding the young people in the unemployment, which results in the lack of opportunities for the youngsters to work on or to participate in projects which are of importance of the local community and also, the lack of opportunities to socialise, interact or to share experiences with foreigners, except for the visiting tourists.
Because of the economical situation, the local community, namely the young people, is either not aware of the possibilities of non-formal education or voluntarism or cannot afford any kind of extra activities for personal development and for contributing to the local community.
Our research regarding local community shows that there’s a huge interest of this kind of projects.
That’s why we believe that the future volunteers will contribute in our aim to promote altruism, volunteering and youth activities.
Perfil: Our principle is every potential candidate to have the same chance in the selection process.
We’d like to encourage open-minded, creative, easy-going and enthusiastic volunteers to apply, regardless of their experiences, especially volunteers with fewer opportunities and the ones without working experiences.
For us, one of the important thing is the volunteer to have positive attitude, fresh ideas and enthusiasm to help in the shaping of the actual project or to develop a new one(s).
We don’t have any preferences regarding nationality, gender, political view, religion, speciffic skills and educational background of the volunteer.
A deadline for applying will be set and the whole project will be transparently published in the EVS databases, socail networks, our webpages and also the project will be send to our contact list. We’ll try to publish the project and the EVS vacancy to as many websites as possible, just to make sure that the project reaches many potential candidates.
Every complete application (CV and motivation letter specific for the project) will be taken in consideration, regardless of volunteer’s background.
We’ll ensure that the rejected candidates will be informed on time.
The selected potential volunteers will be asked to fill in additional questionary about personal motivation and expectations, which will help us make the right selection. Also, there will be a Skype interview with the volunteers.
We also don’t have any preferences regarding the Sending Organisations. We are open for colaboration with accredited Sending Organisations with different background, new partners, partners from previous projects and we’d suggest open communication and constant contact between all the sides in the project.
Age: 18 until 30 years old
