Resumo: The hosting organization is situated on the island south of Funen. The island has 72 inhabitants. The island covers an area of 4.26 km², and is 5 km long and 2 km wide at the widest place. A ferry plies on the mainland, the island of Skarø and Drejø. The crossing time is around 55 minutes.

In the summertime the number of inhabitants increases dramatically since the island is visited by sailors and tourists. Island's nature is remarkable, and contains a multitude of different kinds of natural environment and animal species. It is an important breeding area for swans, herons, buzzards, greylags, kestrels and sparrowhawks.
Drejø has its own grocery store, inn, library, local archive and church.

The island is also famous for its Island camps, a special Danish phenomenon where people (often families) come to the island to camp and be together around a certain theme like music, dance, yoga etc.

The volunteers will be hosted at the hosting organization.

Perfil: The project is open to everyone! However, volunteers with a high level of English will be preferred. If you speak German too this will be an extra plus but not at all mandatory! It is also important to be flexible regarding the tasks since they vary very much.

We are very flexible concerning the age and profile of the volunteer. However, we are looking for volunteers who will be able to accept and appreciate the atmosphere on a small island where everybody knows eachother and where night life is rather far and difficult to acces.

Age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: Through a stay at the organization the volunteer will get insight in different aspects of operating a museum, a café and a gallery. Moreover, he/she will get historic knowledge about life on Drejø through times.

The volunteer will work alongside the staff in various areas depending on the background, education and interest of the particular volunteer.

Activities could include preservation of antique items, building exhibitions, gardening, organising of cultural activities, in high season also waiting on tables, assisting in the kitchen, selling ice cream, cleaning, general maintenance in the café, tour guiding, but there will also be plenty of opportunities to make own activities also
