The role that volunteers undertake in Deineta as a host organization will change gradually as EVS progresses over time. From passive observers volunteers are integrated in the organization step by step and become independent in their work, have personal fields of responsibility and concrete tasks. They become more confident to initiate their own small projects, actions and campaigns alongside the planned schedule. In general EVS gives a lot of space for personal growth too. Volunteers are able to experience challenges of independent life, they become more mature and responsible; acquire a new perspective for building personal future plans.
Working in our office volunteers will become part of the team; they will cooperate with employees, local and international partner organizations, will receive personal and task related support.
The activities in which the volunteers could be involved are centred on communication and publishing, presentations/special events, and assistance in Deineta’s regular activities.
Proposed tasks for the volunteer joining Communication and publishing activities:
• Maintenance of Deineta’s webpage, internet blog and social networking accounts (publishing volunteering and youth related information, replying to comments, hyper-linking related content on the world wide web)

The work load in the office depends on the season so our aim is to find and maintain a good balance between tasks suitable for the volunteer and the needs of our organisation. During the months of September – February volunteers will be more concentrated on communication and publishing. From March till June, having received enough practice on international youth affairs, volunteers can increase their contribution towards presentations, special event organizations and implementation of personal initiatives. During July and August the volunteers will spend the greater part of their time assisting the running of our voluntary work camp season.
Example of some typical tasks of volunteers:
Collecting volunteering related news from Deineta’s partner networks and publishing online; meeting volunteers from other projects and producing interviews with them, taking pictures, publishing online; working with computer design software on volunteering promotion materials (leaflets, booklets etc); updating the summer workcamp placement system; leading workcamps; visiting workcamps and organizing provisions (checking food and other items lists), and leisure time for participants (taking them out to the city, showing around etc); creating a Christmas action together with other volunteers in the city; making a presentation in a local school about EVS; meeting summer camp volunteers in a bus/train station; replying to emails etc.
