Resumo: The activities of the EVS projects of the hosting organization will take place primarily in the city. In case of events such as trainings / seminars and / or conferences outside the town, the volunteers will accompany the team of the association and will take part in them.
Given the cultural, communicational and everyday life differences in the countries of residence and the hosting countries, it is important for us that volunteers from different EU countries quickly and adequately socialize into the local community. The town facilitates their inclusion to the highest degree - here transport links and information sources are diverse, fast and reliable, a large percentage of people speak English and there are many options for spending their free time. The presence of many museums, galleries and theaters is a prerequisite for getting acquainted with the culture and traditions of the country, as well as for direct and effective communication with the youth community.
Many activities will take place at the office of the association, which is located near the metro and can easily be reached by public transport. Volunteers will work alongside the permanent staff of the association, who is fluent in English and has a high level of experience working with young people from different cultures. This is a prerequisite for creating a pleasant and productive working atmosphere in which volunteers can learn and at the same time - have fun. We expect volunteers to be active in the online environment, which creates conditions for maintaining connections with home and making new contacts among the friends and supporters of the Association.
In activities with disadvantaged people, volunteers will always be accompanied by an expert, thereby minimizing the likelihood of overload and stress among young people. The fact that SVG team is composed of young people, mostly under the age of 35 years gives opportunity for informal contacts and establishing friendly relations with foreign and Bulgarian volunteers the Association will work with.
From an economic perspective the town is one of the cheapest European capital, which is another positive factor in the conduction of volunteering here. Volunteers will not be deprived of anything, and their pocket money will be enough for many cultural and social events taking place in the capital.
Perfil: The hosting organization is open to all young people aged 18 to 30 from countries participating in the Youth in Action Programme of the European Commission, who have the desire and motivation to volunteer in our team.
Determining factor in the initial selection of volunteers will be neither their innate characteristics (gender, race, ethnicity, or national origin), nor their view of the world (religion, cultural identity, political orientation, philosophical attitudes and / or others). It will be extremely important for young people to be open to receive new knowledge, willing to meet with representatives of different nationalities and cultures and to work for the protection of human and civil rights of people with disabilities.
The Association does not require volunteers to have a certain educational degree or professional knowledge. Only because the limitation of the language skills of our team we will prefer volunteers who have at least basic knowledge in English, French or German.
To achieve maximum visibility, in the publication of a call for volunteers, we decided to use the European youth networks platform, profiles in which have a lot of young people from all countries under the Youth in Action Program and where partner organizations publish ads for volunteer projects on daily basis.
For the purpose, we will use the established partnerships with youth organizations in the UK, Romania, Cyprus, Macedonia and Greece built during the years of our work.
The process of selection will consist of the following elements:
Filled in CV and letter of motivation enabling evaluation of English proficiency and why the applicant wants to participate in the project;
Evaluation of documents, including the experience and interests of potential volunteers in similar areas and / or projects;
Conducting on-line interview;
Final selection of volunteers and notification of all of the choice of the organization.
Tarefas: Voluntary projects carried out by the association will have a direct impact on both our organization and on volunteers. As part of the mandatory elements of volunteering, the organization will ensure the process of studying Bulgarian language, will introduce volunteers in the process of exploring the Bulgarian culture and traditions. Within the specific project activities, the association will enable volunteers to learn about the principles of non-formal education will give them a new perspective on the teaching process and teach them on practice to respect, appreciate and develop the potential and opportunities of people with sensory impairments.
Not less important for us will be building skills for assessment and interpretation of events and facts, not from the side of cultural limitations, but from the perspective of universal values enshrined in the youth work of the European Union and the Council of Europe.
Volunteers will be able to gain new knowledge by working in the following areas:
Participation in eco-campaigns, demonstrations and trainings on environmental protection;
Participation in extracurricular activities for children and young people with sensory disabilities, including art workshops and teaching the mother tongue of the volunteer as a foreign for local teenagers;
Participation in online campaigns for tolerance and understanding between cultures;
Participation in campaigns to raise awareness about the problems of young people in Bulgaria and Europe, in particular the inclusion of health education as a compulsory part of training for young people in school.
To ensure that the principles of the European Voluntary Service are met, we have ensure that volunteers perform only support activities in the implementation of various projects of the association. They will not be directly responsible for the execution of a phase in the project which we will implement. The volunteers will always be accompanied and instructed by a member of staff of the organization who will be responsible for their safety and the quality of activities. They will be given the opportunity to support the team of the town in the administrative work, such as processing of feedback forms from different events, sorting and archiving project documentation.
Volunteers will assist and determine their priority areas in which they want to develop and gain experience. Major role in the development of the volunteers will have the mentor who will discuss with each one of them their ideas and views on the progress of activities and will provide guidance to realize their own ideas in the project. In turn, these activities will indirectly stimulate creative thinking, creativity and imagination of volunteers which are one of the core competencies within the European Commissions Lifelong Learning framework.
