Resumo: The kindergarten is located in a town that is mainly a residential
district close to the center. Apart from apartment areas there are also embassies, foreign delegations, well-known
companies headquarters and public administration offices. In the South-Western part of the district, within the close vicinity to
the airport and main roads and railway lines, there are service and industrial areas whose character is not burdensome.

In the district, there are many educational establishments, including 54 kindergartens, 44 primary schools, 8 special schools, 20 secondary schools, 9 occupational schools, 21 secondary technical schools, 4 post-secondary schools and 5 higher education establishments. Thus, the number of educational establishments is sufficient and even surpasses the needs
of the district. The inhabitants of Mokotów can choose between 3 theaters, 2 cinemas, 9 museums, 20 allotment complexes
and sport areas, 2 gardens, 17 parks, 23 sport clubs and 6 indoor swimming pools. Mokotów district has a good communication
system and is well connected to the rest of the city, especially the center.

The city is one of the largest cities has been the capital for four centuries - with a rich history and fascinating present, is located in the heart of Poland, close to the geometrically calculated centre of Europe. Today Warsaw is a busy metropolis, the seat of the highest national authorities, the most important administrative, scientific and cultural centre of the country as well as one of the main industrial and business centres. Foreign and international agencies are located here, as well as the seats of national political, professional, economic, social, artistic and religious organizations. Warsaw offers volunteers a possibility to spend their free time the way they like the best. Numerous theatres, cinemas, sports facilities and dozens of museums and galleries contribute to its rich and high-quality cultural offerings.

The kindergarten is opened from September till June so we can host EVS volunteers in this period of time only. The pupils of
the kindergarten are physically disabled girls and boys between 3 and 10 years of age. Physical disability is accompanied by
other developmental disorders, e.g. behavioral disorders, cerebral spastically, genetic disorders and multiple disability. Each of them needs care and help in everyday activities to some extent. As children usually are, our pupils are also opened to new
contacts, however, sometimes an effort is necessary to gain their trust. Verbal contact is difficult as most of pupils does not
speak but they can be cheerful and joyful and establish emotional contact.

The great diversity of our pupils’ characters as well as different kinds of disorders, which influence their behavior, does not allow to describe the target group in short. It seems that readiness to new challenges and creativity of the volunteers will allow them to create the relation satisfactory for them and for the children.

Perfil: The volunteers can be of any gender and any background. The most important is that they are interested and motivated to work
with mentally and physically disabled children and try to be open-minded, tolerant, patient and persistent persons that enjoy
challenges. The candidates should have a team spirit but also should be able to work independently. An advantage would be
creativity and motivation to learn at least basic Polish.
As the target group is quite demanding, it would be an asset, if the volunteers hosted in our special kindergarten have some
basic knowledge in the field of disability, mainly physical disability. Nevertheless, this is not a demand because all skills and knowledge to carry out the proposed tasks can be acquired during the Service.

The Foundation, as coordinating organization, will organize the recruitment process to make sure
that the most suitable candidates are chosen. We are open to cooperation with different volunteers and different sending
organizations. The selection will be carried out on the basis of CVs and motivation letters that the candidates or their sending
organizations send. Short phone-interviews will also be carried out with candidates. Interested volunteers can send their
appliccations all year long or in reply to an open call. The final decision on the choice of volunteers will always be made in
consultation with Kindergarten.

Tarefas: The Kindergarten can offer the volunteers new learning opportunities. For volunteers interested in working with
disabled people this EVS project could be a unique chance to make use of already gained knowledge and experience as well as
to gain new experience, practical skills such as organizational, communicational, foreign language, team spirit, creativity, etc.,
to gain knowledge on therapeutic methods, to participate in the therapy of pupils in school and to pursue their own initiatives.
In our opinion, the project also gives individual profit to the volunteer. We would like to acquaint the volunteer with Polish
language, culture, history and traditions. We hope that the volunteer will find new friends among the children and the staff.

We provide the volunteers with mentorship and supervision. They will be able to count on support of specialists and other
staff. The work with disabled children is demanding, therefore we know that the volunteers will need some getting used to and
a lot of guidelines as well as instructions. Their development and work with children will be monitored. At the same time, the
volunteers will have space for their own creativity. In order to establish contact with the co-workers and children easier, Polish
learning support will be provided. The volunteers will also have a possibility to work on the Kindergarten’s website, where there
is information about kindergarten events and everyday tasks.
It would be great, if the volunteers were motivated to think of new ideas to enrich the range of proposed activities for the children, participate in classes and help the staff. The volunteers will always be supported by the teachers and therapists. Together with them, they will help the children in everyday activities (e.g. changing clothes, meals, toilet).

Moreover, they can think of and prepare additional activities for them (e.g. artwork, musical activities, physiotherapy and physical recreation, theatre activities, culture education, favourite hobbies. . . ). The volunteers could also prepare together with the staff and children traditional Polish feasts for families of our children (e.g. Christmas, Easter, Grandmother’s Day, St. Andrew’s Day).
