Resumo: The volunteer will be fully part of the animation team, which works with the rehabilitation and the care units in order to rehabilitate the patient's autonomy. The volunteer will be directly involved in the implementation of the animation program and the selection of cultural activities.

Perfil: Listening ability, patience and ease in personal contact.
A driver’s license is required.

The description of our project is in the European Voluntary Service database, and is also available through VISA-Année Diaconale, the coordinating organization with which we collaborate. VISA-Année Diaconale gets the applications from the volunteers. After studying all the applications, it selects one that could fit our project and sends it to us, with a summary of the interview it had with the applicant. In case we decide to accept this application, the volunteer is asked to contact our institution so that we can get to know each other, answer questions he might still have and prepare for his arrival.

The service begins beginning of September to end in June of the following year which means it lasts 10 months. The applicants needs to contact the coordinating organization VISA-AD, from December to February, to start the selection procedure.
age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: The volunteer will participate in the creativity and development of a leisure activity project for the center, with the goal of providing high-quality input to the socio-cultural well-being of the patient and to provide a connection to the outside world. He will never be put in a situation of ultimate responsibilty and will have as a reference person the Center’s leisure activities coordinator.

MISSIONS
- assist the leisure activities coordinator during activities (group games, festivities…)
- help to prepare and set up activities
- help in the management of the library
-develop activities that correspond to his or her own motivation, skills and personality
In the following areas: sports (in collaboration with the physical therapy staff if necessary) – cultural – social – educational – leisure.

Daily activities
 Help in the management of the library:
 Cataloguing books
 Sorting and covering books
 Contacts with the Municipal Library of Salins-les-Bains for borrowing books not available on our shelves (at the request of patients).
 Taking a library on wheels from room to room

 Communication: preparation and posting of means of communication (posters, notices of information...)

 Activities: crafts workshops; supervision of patients and demonstration of techniques. Group games. Evening activities around a theme...

 Other activities (organisation and preparation of activities; coordination of specific events (holiday celebrations, excursions to discover the region...)

 Maintenance of the patients’ computer point: organization of the connection times, accompaniment and individual help, on the patients’ wish, to use the internet

 Development of actions in the re-education units (under the guidance of the nursing staff):
 Individual contacts with bedridden patients (aloud reading, games, discussions…)
 Organization of a sharing and meeting moment for tea.

ACTIONS that could be developed by the volunteer :

 Improvement of the patients’ living quarters

 Decorating the Centre
 Decorating the patients’ rooms
 Decorating the various common areas


 Individual actions: Respond to individual requests of patients to the extent possible. Break the solitude of those isolated in their rooms. Allow each one to express himself freely and to have access to leisure activities.

 Presentation of the volunteer’s country: different forms of presentation could be imagined (exhibit, slide show, festive evening with a related meal featuring culinary specialties…)

Horário: The flexible work schedule will allow him to manage his activities. By learning to organize his working time and to set up a cultural project and promote it, he will develop his autonomy and creativity. Serving fragile people, he will develop human qualities of active listening, of helping each other, of tolerance. Through the creative workshops, he will develop technical and artistic skills. He will also be able to develop his literary culture by helping to manage the library ...
His weekly schedule cannot overtake 33 hours in a week.
He will get at least two days off per month of presence in the center.

Condições:
A two-rooms and all equipped flat is provided for the volunteer. It is located in the park of the center, in a house that the volunteer will share with trainees and with two workers. The volunteer has the possibility to take his meals in the employees’ restaurant, during the week and the weekends.
He will be also offered to use an account at the local supermarket
