Resumo: The European Volunteer will learn and get to know intensively the german language (language course), our students and pupils, our country, people (inhabitants) and the surroundings. There will be a possibiliy to work in our institution: in the area of leisure time pedagogy with disadvantaged young people regarding the Fun-Court - a multi functional sports field.
The volunteer gets the opportunity to gather experience in Youth Work, media pedadgogy - moreover he will gather experience in project planning and execution of the plans. The volunteer will get insights in the holistic approach of the CJD and can participate in the realisation of it. During the service the volunteer will get to know the cultural offers and customs of the host country.
The target group consists of young human beings in difficult life situations between the age of 14 and 22 years. They are either doing an apprenticeship or a vocational preparation in the CJD. The working time of the volunteer begins between10.00 am and 11.30 am and finishes in the evening. The volunteer will live in a spacious single sleeping room together with other trainees and volunteers, directly neighbourhooded in one of the residences on our institution place. The volunteer will share with his neighbour a bathroom and a toilet. Moreover there will be a shared kitchen, a living room and a backoffice with PC, telephone and internet facilities. The catering will be organised via our canteen kitchen and the volunteer can eat in the staff restaurant. At the weekend the vol. has the possibility to look after himsef and cook with groceries from the canteen.
Working Area: "Funcourt":
The volunteer will participate actively in the organisation of the leisure activities for the teenagers of the residental school or in the educational support area of our castle. The multi functional sports ground offers various possibilities for activity like: volleyball, football, badminton, skating rink (at freezing temperature), archery etc…In the material assets you can find a lot of equipments for leisure activities.
In winter or in bad weather period the voluneer can use the bowling alley of our institution for his leisure activity offers. Here he or she will have the possibility to use the room for archery, table football or darting. We desire and require that the volunteer will plan and realise the organisation of leisure actively and independantly - self employed -after the training period. Under the guidance of a pedagogic employee we wish to point out that the volunteer get involved with its own interests and competences and eventually initiate her or his own project. In the holidays there may be a possible further volunteer to participate in various summer projects of the educational support and helsp to organise the appropriate programme.
Perfil: The volunteer should take a great interest in the work with teenagers. It is very important that he is of legal age (age: 18 until 30 years old) due to our target group. A basic knowledge of the german language is an advantage. Due to our target group which we are promoting it is important for the volunteer to have a certain sophisticated level.
We can`t accept addicts and acutely mentally ill persons.
Female and male applicants will have equality of opportunity.
It is likely that applicants who have a disadvantage like socially / economically / geographically) can drop in their application.
The volunteer should have a great interest in sports, fun and games, should be interested in creativity of the department of leisure activities with teenagers in difficult life situations.
Additional conditions don`t have to be fulfilled.

The CJD has got in general a good record about european and international contacts. Especially the CJD in Zehnthof in Essen/ Ruhrgebiet which is organising and supervising the European Volunteer Service has got for years reliable partnerships with different european providers and is communicating naturally established EFD-projects in this network.
