Resumo: Adults, mental handicap

The volunteer will have his missions on both homes of accommodation which receive respectively 25 and 45 residents. Both homes (and their appendices) are all situated within a 500m radius, in 20 minutes walk from the city centre (and housing of the volunteers).
The Organization works in network with the various structures 35 and the medical and social actors of the territory

These two homes are situated in a town of 10.000 inhabitants in the confluence of 2 regions and of 3 departments . This configuration makes this area a territory administratively cut and remote from big cities but with a strong cultural identity and with a rich associative life.

Perfil: The ideal volunteer would be patient, would have qualities of mediator and capacities in the discussion in the case of situations of conflict. It is preferable that the volunteer has the Driving Licence B for more than a year. Finally, the volunteer must be aware that most of its missions will occure in the evening and the weekends
Age: 18-30

Tarefas: During this EVS , the volunteer can deepen his knowledge about the support to persons having an intellectual handicap, around the integration of the persons handicaped in the society (and different persons generally). He will see the work of structures trying to adapt the societal environment to the integration of disabled persons (for example, through actions as the activities, of actions of partnership with structures welcoming other publics). He will also develop his competences in project management, in teamwork and in knowledge of the realities of a professional structure. Finally, he will deepen his skills in French.

The role of the volunteer will be to support the professionals in their actions of animation and opening for the residents. His (her) presence will allow to widen the horizons of the everyday life in the residence by new and innovative actions organized in the life of the home.

Within the homes of accommodation, the volunteer will be able to :
- participate in the existing activities: manual workshops (cooking, gardening), evenings (festive, karaoke, dance), sports activities (swimming pool, football, equitation, tennis).
- Set up new activities:
- Support the team in outdoor activities : cultural (concerts, festivals, cinema, circus) or other (discotheque, restaurant, football match (soccer)). The volunteer can lean on the local associative life to set up activities with the residents and in connection with the various structures of the area.
- Participate in the organization of projects (transfers and stays, participate in the organization of festival. Example: the Small Sound) and to set up new projects on his (her) initiative. We would like that the volunteer is strength of propositions in the everyday life.
The volunteer will participate only in activities and support to the tasks of the everyday life (preparation of the meals, going-outs, management of the food shopping, the purchases with the residents…).
The volunteer will NOT participate to the medical care and to the activities of nursing (rises, toilet, etc.).
He (she) will have the opportunity to participate to the team meetings on Thursday morning and will have every week a time dedicated to the tutelage.

The missions of the volunteer will be made especially in the evening (with schedules of the type 2-10 pm) because of the absence of the resident during the day and he will have to be present some weekends. If the volunteer is in mission the weekend, he (she) will have 2 consecutive days of rest next week (ex: if the volunteer is present on Saturdays, it will be in rest Sunday and Monday).
He (she) will also have, on a weekly basis, French clases with the other volunteers of the city and time dedicated to the organization of the week of Europe with the other volunteers hosted in the city.
