A big part of the region are mountains and this is the most tourist attractive place, not far from the city. The city is one of the quickest developing cities in Poland. The reason is the geographical location - near the German and Czech borders. It draws many western investors. The region in the history was Polish, Czech, Austro-Hungarian and German and therefore its cultural and historic heritage is multicultural and very impressive. The city itself is a beautiful city with many historic sites and very friendly atmosphere. We have 14 Universities and Academies and very well developed cultural live.

The volunteer should be interested in animating free time of young people and involving them in public and social life as well as sharing values stated above. He/she needs to be able to work in a team, be flexible and to certain extend independent. A creative, open-minded person with artistic skills will be appreciated. Previous experience in working with young people or teaching experience would be an advantage. We appreciate national and international cultural interests like dances, music and history. Also basic computer and internet skills will be helpful but we are also eager to teach of what will be useful.
Tarefas: Concerning the fact, that our office is situated in a rather neglected area, every day we can see children and youth who don’t get enough attention from their families. Through our activity, we want to create a special space for developing their personalities and discovering new passions and interests. What is more, we want to give them sometimes unique opportunity for meeting young people from different European countries. Thinking about these all benefits to young people, 3 years ago, we created "Multicultural Language CafA©". During this time, when "Multicultural Language CafA©" took place we had after-class meetings, watching films together, human rights workshops, discussions, presentation and local cultural events such as: happenings, little performances, making movies, photography, exhibitions, karaoke etc. The most important thing was the idea of involving Polish youth and EVS volunteers into actions realized in the CafA©. After many months of the work we noticed, that our action is more effective if we are coming to young people, not that they are coming to us. Going to schools, after classes clubs and family homes, we can provide the non-formal education to the larger number of people. Therefore, we changed our initial ideas of creating one meeting place- a CafA© - and we started to go to youth, to their natural environment. At this moment, we are
really glad from result of our action – only in the last year we trained around 3000 pupils fromthe city and regional schools about human rights and values connected to it - and we would like to continue "Multicultural Language CafA©". In "Multicultural Language CafA©" the EVS coordinator will carry out activities together with the international group of EVS and local volunteers. Much of the work, which a volunteer will be doing, is to encourage young people to participate in civic life as well as to develop their personality and European identity.
She/he will take part in the following activities:
- preparation, implementation and evaluation of local cultural projects;
- promoting culture of the origin country of the volunteer (thematic evenings, workshops, exhibitions);
- own language animations for youth in "Multicultural Language CafA©" (like language workshops, regular help in language
learning to individuals and language and cultural weekend trips as well as - updating and running website of this activity)
- help in preparation and implementation of workshops about tolerance, intercultural dialog, human rights, European identity
and other similar topic;
- promotion of participation in European programs with special emphaize on the opporunities offered by Youth in Action
programme;
- documentation of the projects (filming, taking photographs);
- taking part in EVS promoting projects
- participating and helping in office work and other activities run by the organization.
Volunteers will be never left alone with this project, the organization members and local Polish volunteers will be working together to obtain the goal of creating "Multicultural Language CafA©".
The volunteer will have the possibility to take part in international and local trainings concerning youth work. Volunteer will work mainly in WrocAaw. Working week will not exceed 30 hours per week, however, the work will be around half time in the morning and half time in the evening, as running some events and language classes will be done in "after school" time. The precise schedule will be planed together with the volunteers at the beginning of the project. Occasional weekend work also can be expected according to the needs of the project and organization. All state holidays are free.
Additionaly, during the summer, we would like to organize short term EVS, where foreign volunteers with fewer opportunities together with Polish volunteers will be working with young people staying in WrocAaw during holidays, giving them chances to spend free time in the attractive way with intercultural element. Planning is very important in this project. All necessary information about service volunteer will receive before arriving to the project. Volunteers will have enough time to rethink their project and get used to volunteer’s subject-matter. Little by little they will be introduced to the project, and responsibilities will be entrusted to them depending on the level of their involvement into volunteer’s service. Regular timetable gives safe frames, essential harmony and stabilisation in the project, it makes efficient monitor of volunteer’s service easer for coordinators of volunteer’s service. Thanks to weekly evaluation, coordinator will be able to deal with likely problems and plan further actions. Volunteers will be asked to introduced their own ideas and social action initiatives. Ideas going to be put into practise after careful analyse. The key aspect of the project is also volunteer’s learning process. Each person coming for EVS is individual, has distinct needs, personality, different skills and gifts. Learning process depends on each person. Beginning from communication in foreign language, managing own budget, preparing meals, live in international environmental, going to planning and putting into practise ideas about leading own workshops with kids and finally self-reflection and evaluation of the project. Each person will learn in their own time.
Volunteers will learn in three ways:
- Learning-by-doing and on their own mistakes,
- Learning based on clues given by experienced coordinators, couches and youth
workers,
- Learning one from another
Three possible ways of learning is consistnet with tree steps rules "Tell me, and I will forget, show me, and I will remember, involve me and I will understand".
