Tarefas: The general role of the volunteer would be bringing new ideas and "a fresh wind" into the children's home activities, participating, teaching young people and learning new things by doing it.

The main tasks of EVS volunteers will be participation in daily activities, helping the staff to organize workshops, exhibitions, excursions, stimulating the young people to be more active in the local community.

By organizing/helping to organize various events volunteers will acquire valuable orgnaizational skills. Communication in English and later in Lithuanian will contribute to their lingual skills. Taking part in variuos clubs, excursions will help them know the Lithuanian culture, history, traditions. This should foster the volunteer's intercultural learning.
Volunteer activities should provide the following benefits to the organization and local community:
- New ideas;
- Possibility for the children to learn about different cultures without actually traveling;
- Sharing of experience between the staff, the children and the volunteer;
- Increasing interest in volunteerism in the local community;
- Giving an international aspect to the organization;
- Increasing interest of local young people to become more active
- Developing dialog among young people of different nationalities and cultures.

There are many interesting extra-curricular activities at the children's home that are directed to preparing children for independent life and integrating them in the society.

In the organization children can find the art studio, discussion, readers', music and drama clubs, puppet theater class. Many children are actively involved in sports and art clubs located in other schools and education centers. Every year the children participate in international sport competitions. During various festivals their works are exposed to society.

While working with children the EVS volunteer will be supporting the project personnel in:
- Organizing leisure time for the residents;
- Teaching children songs, games, languages; curative exercises, organizing concerts, meetings, lectures, exhibitions;
- During the weekends organizing excursions, visits to Lithuanian places of interest, museums and etc.
- Escorting younger ones to/from school
- Helping the children with their homework

EVS volunteers will have an opportunity to involve in several of the activities mentioned above and create their own personal daily schedule. According to volunteer skills, priority tasks and more detailed working schedule will be worked out together with the project director and staff. Not all activities are available to EVS volunteers having in mind the non-formal and non-professional profile of the service, therefore assistance would be the main role of EVS volunteers, although some fields of sole responsibility could be found too. All depends on the individual volunteer and his/her willingness to be active and creative. The service will teach young volunteers to be responsible for other people, to be a part of the team and find their own, unique place in the organization.

Volunteers' activities in the organization can be organized on three levels:
- Individual level: a volunteer is working with one child assigned to him/her (may also be several kids at different times). Volutneers would try to be friends with the kid(s) and help according to the child's specific needs. This can be help with the homework, escort to school and back, help with foreign language class, free time together.

- Family level: a volunteer is assigned to one family and participates in its life. Together with the social worker of the family plans the activities for the children, helps with the household chores, introduces his/her own culture, traditions, hobbies, food and encourages the kids to be interested in similar things

- Organizational level: volutneers actively participate in organizing events for all the kids of the organization as well as events outside the institution. This could be cultural presentations, exhibitions, concerts, competitions etc.

The involvement in the activities mentioned above depends of the individual volunteers and their motivation to participate.
